Have you ever not eaten lunch because the lunch line was so long? Do you ever get home so late from work or practice and not have any time for homework? How about a class that is so out of control that you can even hear yourself think? These problems occur frequently at Grandville High School.
Many changes have been made throughout my time at Grandville High School but none of them significant enough to make a difference. As a veteran, of four years of education at Grandville High School, I recommend a few changes be made. First of all, I strongly believe that all juniors and seniors should have open campus. By doing so, overcrowding in the lunchroom will be less of a problem. In addition, by utilizing an open campus, juniors and seniors will receive a mental break from their strenuous morning of classes. This in turn will benefit teachers, since students will come back from lunch ready to learn.
An open campus will improve the attitude of students returning from lunch. This will occur because students will have a choice of where and what to eat not just dull and tasteless cafeteria food. My second solution is to reduce the number of students in classrooms. A major benefit from this is that teachers will have more time to fulfill individual students needs. By having smaller classes teachers will be able to control problem students. This will allow the students who want to learn the ability to do so.
Students grades will also rise because of the special attention that they will receive. By using smaller classes the over all education of students will be greatly improved, preparing students for the future. Most importantly students should have a study hour. A large amount of students at Grandville High School currently have a job and / or are involved in sports. A study hour for active students will be very beneficial.
Giving the students a study hour will benefit them because it will give them an extra hour of sleep, or students will be able to sit down and eat a nice dinner. A study hour for students who have proven to be responsible will benefit all. The students grades will increase because they will have at least one hour a day to sit down and do their homework. The students involved will have a much better attitude with more that only a few hours of sleep. Teachers lives will be made easier by having students in their classes who actually does their homework allowing them to participate in class room discussions. A major justification which shows students deserve a study hour is that teachers at Grandville High School get paid to have a free hour to do class work.
The educational policies at Grandville High School are currently acceptable. I feel with a few changes and a bit more flexible schedule students will benefit from changes an improved educational system at Grandville High School. In conclusion it is important for students to gain knowledge in a more comfortable learning environment while in turn preparing them for the future. Bibliography:
