There are many problems with pollution these days in the community. Some which can be hazardous, while others are harmless to us. The problem in our community is the littering done in and around school campuses. This might be harmless to some people, but a bad example for others and it even can be dangerous for the living things around everyone. Students just do not care these days about the littering.
First, the Student Council should get involved more and establish a policy for littering. They should participate the most, after all supposed to do this kind of things. They can add little news clips on the morning annoucements on littering, and post flyers around campus which will attract people to throw trash away in the garage can instead of just on the floor. They can also setup little team games on who can pick up the most trash around school in one minute, who ever wins gets to miss a test of their choice! Trash basketball, is another good game, which the Student Council can setup.
Just little things like that can make a big difference. Also, the involvement of teachers would help students participate. Students, if are reminded daily might get the picture that maybe they should really do this and help out the around school. The teachers should be more strict about the litter around students desks, or by the trash can.
Instead of letting the trash can over fill with trash, and students kicking it all over the room, teacher's should request someone to take the trash down or do something about it. This should not happen. Last, the school should invite little organizations or the adult community to talk to the students about the trash about twice a year. Get the non-profit organizations to talk to the students, and how litter can effect animal's life. Cops should visit schools more frequently, and help everyone get involved, and explain how trowing things out on the sidewalk can not only effect them, but their friends.
To summarize, if some people start carrying about the litter problems at schools, then more and more people will get involved. Organizations should talk with the students about the litter and how it can effect their friends. Like no one stepped in gum at school. It feels weird walking with sticky stuff on the bottom of your shoe. Everyone at school should get involved. Once some people take action, more and more people will join in.
