In the book of Mice and Men both their are two guys who have a dream. Like all dreams you must go through obstacle to achieve their goal. This quote Some of the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry, is used in reference to the book of Mice and Men. To prove this quote I will show you three citations from the book. The quote relates to the novel mainly because George and Lennie both have a dream of owning their own land, but their plans go awry.
The first instant that George and Lennie plans go awry happens in Weeds. When George and Lennie were down in Weeds Lennie saw a lady wearing with soft dress on, so Lennie wanted to touch the dress. When Lennie reached for the girl she yelled and Lennie just grabbed the girl because he did not know what else to do. This citation relates to the quote because George and Lennie had plans to stay in Weeds and make some money to purchase their ranch. Their plans went awry when Lennie touched the girl and they had to run and hide in an irrigation ditch.
The second instant of someone s plans gone awry is between Candy and old Swamper. In away I think Candy had a laid out plans for him and his dog to grow old together and die of natural cause. But yet again some of the best laid plans can go awry, because of one man opinion. Carlson opinion caused everyone else to complain about Candy s dog. The third instant that George, Candy and Lennie plans go awry happen on the Ranch that they were currently working on. This time Lennie really tried hard to keep from getting in trouble but opportunities was just jumping at Lennie. The reason way George, Candy and Lennie plans go awry is because of Curley s wife. Curley s wife just wanted to talk to someone, but when Lennie told that he could not talk to her, but she did not listen. She keep pushing Lennie to talk to her, so Lennie loosed up and talked to her.
Then the tart she is told Lennie that he can touch her hair. Once Lennie got to touching something soft, he could not stop. She tried to scream, but Lennie grabbed her mouth and he picked her up. But not knowing his own strength he snaps her neck. Knowing now that he had killed her he ran and to the place George had told him to run to if he had gotten into any trouble.
Their plans go awry when George is force to kill Lennie. George had to kill Lennie because he did not want anyone else to hurt him. So now George is on his own. In conclusion the quote is really saying that a person can do everything possible to make their plans perfect. There will always be something that is going will cause you to alter your plans. George had to alter his plans cause he was now alone.
