My first job was a job I would never want to work again. For one year I worked at an Arby s restaurant. I heard about the job from my father who knew the owner of the restaurant. I went to apply for the opening and to my amazement there was no application or interview asked of me. I was handed a uniform and put to work.
My first day working was not what I expected it to be. I expect to learn how to use the cash register and take orders. Well, five hours later I knew nothing about cash registers or taking orders. I learned how to mop floors, clean dishes, and keep the bathrooms clean. I was very unhappy because it would probably be some-time before I could take peoples orders. My day taking orders soon came and I found out it was a very stressful job unlike the simplicity of my previous duties.
Taking orders taught me one thing, I never want to work with food and people in the same building again. When people order food the want it now, the want it perfect, and they are always right. Well I didn t see it that way and that s why after about a month of working at Arby s I hardly ever showed up to work. I worked about 3 days every two weeks. I have to say that Arby s taught me that I m not cut out to work with people and food. I m glad I took the job because it is an experience I will never forget and never relive.
