McDonalds is an international fast-food restaurant chain. Although it is famous in the Western countries, it is growing in popularity in Asia. In America, fast-food such as hamburgers, french fries, and cokes have become staple foods to American people. No matter the kids or adults, they love to eat fast-food frequently. Similarly, there are many fast-food restaurants in Taiwan, for example, McDonalds, Wendy's, and Burger King. However, the first time, when I walked into one of McDonalds in San Antonio with my friend, it really shocked us.
Although they have the same name, there are great differences between San Antonio's McDonalds and Taipei's McDonalds. The first difference between San Antonio's McDonalds and Taipei's McDonalds is the construction of the store. In San Antonio, the land is wide and large. Most McDonalds are established like houses and they are individual buildings. Inside the store, they usually have one floor and few seats for customers. However, because of limited space, some McDonalds in Taipei are combined with business companies or different stores in a building.
The others are two or three-story individual buildings. Inside of McDonalds, they support a great quantity of seats. Second, the difference between San Antonio's McDonalds and Taipei's McDonalds is the inside of the environment. It is dirty and messy at McDonalds in San Antonio.
The cups fall on the table and drink flows onto the floor. People leave their trash on the tables after they finish their meals. Thus, most people dont like to stay there for a while. In contrast, McDonalds in Taipei is clean and neat. It is usual to see the employees wipe the tables and chairs or mop the floor. People throw the trash into the trashcan after they enjoy eating their meals.
Therefore, people would like to spend their time there for a long time or even a whole day. The third difference between San Antonio's McDonalds and Taipei's McDonalds is service. The employees are inefficient at McDonalds in San Antonio. There are only one or two employees taking orders. For example, after people order the meal, they have to wait for a long time until they get their food, and they call it fast-food. However, the employees are friendly and efficient on their job at McDonalds in Taipei.
Normally, there are five or six employees taking orders. People get their food while they pay for it. If the meals that they order are not ready for them, it takes only three to five minutes. Meanwhile, the employees treat them to a drink while they are waiting. The fourth difference between San Antonio's McDonalds and Taipei's McDonalds is the quality of food. Both McDonalds have excellent commercials on TV.
They tell people how delicious and different their food is. But when I got my food at McDonalds in San Antonio, it was a disappointment. The hamburger was not the same as the commercial showed it on TV. Besides, the food did not taste fresh at all. One the other hand, they serve the best quality food to customers at McDonalds in Taipei. The meals are fresh, hot, and tasty as the commercial shows on TV.
Moreover, the eating habits are totally opposite. In San Antonio's McDonalds, it is quiet because people usually have their meals inside their own cars and they seldom sit inside the store. People in Taipei have their food inside instead of taking it out or eating in their cars. As a result, Taipei's McDonalds is always full of customers. It is difficult to find a seat.
People talk, joke, and laugh loudly. Although it is crowded and noisy in Taipei's McDonalds, it is a good place for people to eat and talk with friends or get together with the family. In conclusion, both McDonalds offer food for people who dont have much time to eat. It is economic, quick, and convenient, especially for people going to school or work. It takes less time than many other restaurants. In my opinion, I prefer to eat at McDonalds in Taipei.
It is not only a fast-food restaurant for people to eat quickly and save their time, but also a good place for people to eat and talk with friends or get together with their family. As a result, people feel comfortable and enjoy eating at McDonalds in Taipei.
