There are many good poets in the world but the one that I like the most is Robert Frost. He is such a great poet, he throws a curve ball at you at the end of his poems. The one i chose to write about is The Road Not Taken. The purpose of the author is to show a problem many people have to face one point or another in life.
There are two roads that he can take but doesn? t know which one to take. He takes the road that only few people took. But in the end he still ends up happy.
That shows that people can be different and still have a great life. Robert Frost has a positive attitude toward being an individual. He being yourself is the best thing. If you are yourself it will help you make your decisions. At the end of the poem he says? I shall be telling this with a sigh? .
I think that it means that he might regret not going down the other way. He uses a lot of imagery mostly all the second and third stanza? s. The setting of the poem is outdoor because he is looking at two roads, its in the country because of the way he described the road like with the leaves and dirt roads, its on land because he is walking. The occasion i think he is writing about is the his career in life.
He has to go one way or the other. I think that the central purpose of this poem is to be yourself and that will make all the difference in the world. I liked all the poems i read of his but this is my favorite one. The first time i read it in 9 th grade it stuck with me the rest of my life.
