This group of drugs includes the phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, butyrophenones, dihydroindolones, and dibenzoxazepines. Drug treatment is continuous, because relapse of symptoms is common when medication is stopped.
Psychotherapy may be helpful in some situations. There is no known prevention of schizophrenia.
