The Human Cloning HUMAN CLONING The issue of cloning has been very popular topic in the past few years with the cloning of the very first animal of any type. This extraordinary debut found its home in a sheep named Dolly. Ever since then, the idea of cloning other animals (especially humans) has been one of the most talked about things in the science world since the realization of the world being round. Now some scientists are coming right out and saying that if they only had enough money, they would be all over it like there was no tomorrow.
Subsequently, a lot of controversy has come up because of this. Is it moral? Is it safe? And more importantly: is it worth it? When going over it, one tends to find that there could be many positive and negative results. Which one out weighs the other all really depends on who youre talking to.
In view of the positive results, there are some that obviously stand out more than others. Curiosity alone would probably make it one of the biggest money making schemes of all time (second only to television of course). In other, more deeper results, it could do extremely well in things like aiding the military. If it is as easy as some scientists talk, we could have an army the size of China in no time. Also it would be good in disease prevention and organ transplants. Scientists could create these dummies for the sole purpose of experimenting on them (WW II flashback).
They would be cloned, played with to see what works and what doesnt, and then thrown out the back door when theyre no good any more. Also, and this really isnt so deep, but it could possibly be a cure for loneliness as well. Someday, when that stereotypical old woman is tired of having a cat as best friend, she might want to think about cloning herself. The negative aspects, however, can for the most part contradict or at least challenge a lot of the positive.
Anything that has to do with cloning a person where the ultimate purpose is death (war, experimentation) is obviously going to be challenged by human rights activists. Also a lot of people see it as being immoral. Like scientists are playing God by creating people unnaturally. And if looked at in a different light, people tend to find that most of the people who will be able to do this are the ones with money. This doesnt necessarily mean that we will be receiving the best clones in the world. After awhile people will just start doing it because theyre bored.
This all really just tends to sound like a morbid science a fiction novel. In the end it seems like it would do more harm than good. The building up of the armies contradicts itself, because other countries could do it too. The curing of diseases is a good idea, but again who would stand for it? There is enough of every kind of person in this world already. Not that that would stop anyone, but in the big picture its true.
Despite all of this, it could very easily happen. Stranger things have occurred. Especially in these times. This world gets closer to being a science a fiction novel more and more everyday.
