Global Warming is something that has been going on now for a long time. Over the years scientist have been telling people, that all the pollutants that we put in the air was doing damage to the earth and the ozone. Some scientist disagreed with that statement and because of that there was nothing done in the past, but now scientist and people alike know what is happening to the ozone and are making a fight to try and get the government to do something about it. Through out this research paper I hopefully will be able to show and convince you the reader of the dangerous outcome if we do not take action. Global warming is no new thing to scientist, they have known about it for many years. It is recorded that we have had the hottest ten years since nineteen eighty and the hottest year in nineteen ninth-eight.

The scientist predict that rates of infectious diseases will rise, with the spread of mosquitoes and other disease carrying organisms that thrive in warm wet climates. Also the scientist think that more frequent and more severe heat waves will pose a threat to public health, with children and the elderly especially vulnerable. A few examples that have and can occur again are outbreaks of malaria in Michigan, Texas, Florida, California and New York, also there was two major heat waves in Chicago in 1995 and Dallas in 1998, the one in Dallas killed over 600 people. Some of the health problems that can occur that are not as drastic as malaria and death are, sever skin burns which could lead into skin cancer and in some cases lung problems. The scientist have figured out the chemical that does this damage, it is carbon dioxide which is the primary green house gas, and all most all of the carbon dioxide comes from fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas which are used to make our lives easier. The effect of global warming on the earth, by what scientist say, is that warmer temperatures will speed evaporation, leading to drought in some places and heavy downpours and flooding in others.

With the rise of temperature the glaciers are melting and this will directly impact ocean and coastal habitats. As the sea levels rise seasons will shift and ecosystems will be destroyed and species will become extinct. There is already signs of this happening, in the Costa Rican cloud forest 40 % of frog and toad species including the beautiful Golden Toad have become extinct because of unusual dryness due to global warming. Scientist also believe that there will be extreme weather events as well as El Nino events may become more intense and more frequent. There are already many indications that this theory is true because it is already happening.

In 1999 the U. S experienced one of the worst droughts ever recorded, but in the Pacific Northwest it experienced its second wettest year on record California suffered from sever flooding, and other parts got the misfortune of having record hurricanes, like hurricane Mitch, which was the most deadly hurricane in 200 years and hurricane Andrew the most destructive ever. Also the warming of the planet will destroy a lot of vegetation, which will lead to loss of livestock and many other local woodland creatures not just the ones in the jungle that you don t think about because you don t have to se it. There is many ways to stop the devastation of this planet. To begin I will discuss the major things that need to be taking care of. First of all clean power, by this I mean using the sun and wind to produce electricity; in doing this we will use less of the natural resources and cut back on pollution.

Secondly we can clean up our planet by setting tighter limits on all power plant pollution-including carbon dioxide, also locate all the small plants that find loopholes and still burn coal and either shut them down or make them get up to par. The third thing we can do is hold all vehicles to the same air pollution laws. All trucks, cars and vans should have to have a more efficient means of controlling the immi tions and they should make the laws far more strict. Another possibility s for the vehicles is eclectic powered cars or even alcohol driven cars, or something of that nature that is not using fossil fuels. There is many things we as a society would like to see happen but first we have to realize that it is not just the major things that destroy the planet it is also what we as a person do or don t do. We as individuals have just as much responsibility of taking care of the planet as all the groups and government, we as individuals most learn to recycle, walk or computer more, and stop using spray cans that destroy the ozone.

Also if everyone donated a couple dollars to one of the save the rain forest foundations it would cut back on some of the carbon dioxide. In conclusion I know that global warming is happening and if we keep up at the pace we are going we will probably completly destroy this planet in a couple of hundred years. I hope that the government will do something about it but I do not think they will act on it until it is to late. It is going to take the effort of the individuals to make the politics do something about it instead of just talking about it. People need to organize rallies and protest so they know that we are serious and that this is a serious thing that we are dealing with.

We do not want are children and are childrens children to grow up on a planet were the sun burns them if they go outside, the air hurts to breath and the supply of food and goods is diminished.
