Stratification There is no doubt that every society and every nation is stratified. The most democratic countries in the world divide its citizens on lower, middle and higher classes. Despite the universal equality concept, which is being promoted by medias in Western countries, it is a fact that people are not equal. Watchdogs of political correctness explain this by different social reasons.
For example, Black peoples low standards of living are explained by the fact that they were not treated fairly throughout the history and did not have the same access to resources of every particular country where they lived. This approach fails to explain why Blacks of even middle class have generally much lower IQ level, comparing to Whites. Apparently, the root for social stratification is anthropological, or racial one. The theory of Bell Curve, which is now being accepted by great many sociologists, effectively proves the fact that inequality among people is not socially but biologically based.
There is one interesting thesis that George Orwell expresses in his Pigs Farm: All the animals are equal, but pigs are the most equal of all. If all the races are equal, how come there is even no equality even among people of the same race? In my opinion, social stratification is very natural. There is no nation in history that wasnt hierarchically structural ized, except Cambodians in 1975 - 1978, during the rule of Pol Pots gang. Today many people say the Marx's ideas were essentially good, but people just wrongly misinterpreted them.
To many left-wingers Marx is like Jehovah to Bible thumper's legendary figure who only wanted good for mankind, although both Marxism and Christianity resulted in rivers of peoples blood. Pol Pots regime was only the one that deployed Marxist ideas in its purest form: 1) elimination the institute of family women are shared, regardless of their will, 2) elimination of money people simply work for food or not to be killed, 3) people dressed up in the same robes to emphasize their equality. The equality among American people is the most important cornerstone upon which this society is built, yet after the attacks of 9 / 11, Muslims in many States of America were being forced to report to police on weekly basis. The same happened during the Second World War, when Americans of Japanese decent were simply interned in concentration camps. So much for cherished equality White people have founded United States and the principle of equality was only meant to be applied to Europeans and nobody else. But with the advent of multiculturalism we see that this principle is also being applied to the people of all cultural backgrounds.
Yet, in time of crisis, American government simply forgets the principles of democracy, equality and human rights, which it tries to force upon other nations in the world. In his article Racial stratification and education in the United States John Ogbu suggests: Class membership is temporary. People and their children can move up and down the socioeconomic class hierarchy. People can get better jobs, or lose the jobs they have. Membership in a racial group is permanent. Yet, class membership can be only flexible in racially homogeneous society.
When we talk of multicultural country, it appears obvious that social stratification comes hand in hand with anthropological one and there is virtually no way for member of particular social class to move up or down in its hierarchical structure of such society In India there are 5 social casts that are anthropologically defined: the lighter is skin of every particular person the higher is its social status. This is being going on for thousands of years Thats why I think its wrong to differentiate social and racial stratification, these are the opposite sides of the same medal. In time when America deals with the problem of global terrorism, it is important to just drop outdated politically correct concepts and admit that biological determination plays the biggest role in defining of who we are.
