I arrived at my fathers house before nightfall and was let in by one of his illustrious maids. Her name was Margaret'. She had been tending to my father for many years now. A tall, young lady yet always bleak and deteriorating. She led me strait to his chamber which was filled with the aroma of medicines and ails.

The physician was also present as were a few maids. Upon seeing my arrival the old man made a weak attempt to sit up, coughing as though his lungs were filled with smoke from a thousand chimneys, and motioned for me to come closer. It was painful for me to see my once strong, cunning and seemingly invincible father in this state. In his youth, his strength had equaled ten men but now he had been reduced to a thin and withering, pale, old man. I greeted him warmly, hiding my true feelings of disgust and immorality. My father instructed all to leave us and began talk of death nearing him.

My father was not a poor man and had said to be leaving a greater portion of his wealth to me and the rest being divided amongst the maids and my sister who after marriage had moved to Spain. However before the fortune was upon me I would have to complete a task-to kill the one man who had wronged my father. The old man instructed me to take a key from his neck and open his personal drawer with it. From there I would take his prized dagger and use it to slay my fathers adversary. The jewel was wrapped in fine cloth and was not to be opened until I face my enemy in combat. My father spoke of great evil that was in the heart of this beast and only that dagger which had been soaked in his own blood could destroy him.

He bid me be careful and keen with my task as this man wore a mask of kindness that I should not fall under. Automatically I dispersed my fathers warnings, questioning his sanity and left to retire before my journey. On my way out I had spoken to the physician who had told me my father had not but a week to live. Upon awaking the next day, my body was in agony as calm and peaceful sleep had eluded me.

I had terrible dreams of evils that mortal eyes should not see and often woke in cold sweat. The hideous nightmares followed me for the duration of the night and I was finally able to sleep but a few hours by morning. I had breakfast and prepared my belongings for the journey ahead of me. After all was complete I went to my fathers chamber. He was up and waiting for me, again he instructed everyone to leave us and again spoke of the evil, which I was to vanquish. He warned me not to fall for the gentile comfort of the evil demon, who he claims had the appearance of an old man.

I took the final warning and made promise that all shall be well and was off. I road long and far, through morning, day and finally night grew upon me. As I neared my destination the rain grew thicker and as I road through the damp ground, lightning screamed, never missing the opportunity to frighten my now weary horse. It was now midnight and I had arrived at the gate of the destined estate. The estate was large, but visibly no one had cared for it in years. The gate was rusty and worn, the walls were near corruption and the trees and bushes had much outgrown their proper size and placement.

The gate squeaked eerily as I pushed it open and a strong wind blew... almost as if to warn me, to turn me back. But I journeyed on, I was not going to be denied my claim to fortune. I tied my horse at the gate and followed what resembled to be a road. There were no visible servants or maids present.

I walked slowly and listened as the creatures of the night spoke. The winds howled, the leaves shook, and thunder yelled. I walked slowly, ready to draw my sword at first site of impacting danger. Finally, for what seemed like an eternity, I reached the front door. The house was like the rest of the estate, grim and poorly cared for. The rust had eaten through it and what the rust hadn't gotten was food for the maggots.

Nevertheless, the whole estate was worth three times the land of any duke. I reached to knock upon the door and face my fathers nemesis, pondering in my mind what kind of look may be of this man. Alas! My hand would not knock on the forsaken door!

Somehow, something inside of me forbade me this! Yet suddenly that door opened and behind it stood the mild figure of an old and seemingly crippled man. "I know why you have come, I have been expecting you... " he said. With that he tried to draw his sword but age would not let him. His sword fell to the ground as he had no strength to hold it. I took pity on the old man and asked if I could come inside.

He agreed. For I could not kill a defenseless old man, one that cannot even sustain to hold his own blade, could I? We went inside and I helped the old man to a chair. He gasped for breath and begged for his pills. I helped him to his pills and as he regained sense he spoke: "In my youth I was a stout fighter and in battle killed had killed two people of high value to your father. He escaped but swore to send his first born to avenge his defeat.

This turned out to be you. " Fetch your things old man, I said. We ride to my estate tonight to make peace between you and my father. The old man stood and responded, "it is late for one as old as I to travel, sleep now and we shall leave in the morning. " I agreed and he showed me one of the many guest rooms in his mansion. He left me to settle my things and would wake me in the morning. I took a liking to the old man and forgot my fathers warnings. I removed my weapons and armor and made ready to sleep.

I had placed to keep the sacred dagger by my right hand in case of extreme measure. I remember dreaming of peaceful thoughts that night when suddenly, in a dream, my father appeared. I vaguely remember him saying "I warned you... " over and over and then out of the bizarre slumber I was awoken by the a beast! It was the old man in his true form! A beast! His weathered old exterior had changed into red flesh, his teeth into fangs and his legs almost as if they were those of inhuman nature.

His eyes burned with fire as if the devil himself was in the beast! His speech changed to deep growls and laughter. And now he stood upon me holding my arms and legs. He laughed a hideous laugh and dragged me to the floor. I freed my hand and grabbed my secret weapon jamming it through the skin of the old man.

I missed and the old man dragged me to the basement of the house. He had the strength of a demon! When we reached the basement he opened the door and threw me into a cage. I was knocked senseless for how many hours I do not remember but when I awoke I was sure the day had passed and nightfall was open us again. When I opened my eyes I saw the most horrible and awful sight a human can ever imagine. Bodies everywhere, corpses, blood, and human internals.

Some whole some dismembered... and at the corner I saw the old man chewing through the neck of a decapitated head. Blood dripped from his teeth. He ate and groaned as if a hungry mountain lion finding food after a week of hunger. He ate the human parts until he was full and then he stopped. Suddenly he turned his attention to me and spoke: "I've eaten corpses long enough...

my hunger begs for live flesh." With that I realized that I was not his subjugate but merely his prey...
