Chapter 1. 1. The narrator knows what has happened. He or she is not guessing or making it up. The reader feels that this is a true story, a report, not imagination. 2. a) The narrator is a girl, probably a teenager as she is old enough to be interested in boys and allowed to go bush camping with her friends. She was chosen to tell the story because her group thinks she is the best writer.

The other three to load up the Toyota with things they would need for a long trip.
Then they would drive in to get Lee and Robyn and head for Hell. They divided up what was to be done, to get it done more quickly. 5. The reason why they needed to plan well with what they took was because they did not know how long they would be there for. So they needed to bring things they could survive on for a while. 6. They had been spotted by the helicopters, so they moved to Corrie's place. They ducked into the shearers' quarters when they saw a jet approaching.
They were so lucky, because the jet fired rockets into the house and blew it up. Chapters 12 - 13. 1. a) The message means that the group is telling each other that they have gone to Hell. The reason why they don't actually say they are going to Hell is because if a soldier reads it he will not know what it means. b) I'll see you when you have no shadow which means I'll see you tonight when it gets dark. 2. Ellie was confused and then angry because she couldn't decide who she liked, Lee or Homer.
Then she got really angry because she found Chris sleeping while he was on guard duty. 3. a) When Ellie said 'So I guess he atoned's he meant he was trying to make up for his mistake when he fell asleep. b) Chris needed to atone because he had fallen asleep on guard watch. So he needed to make up for his mistake. 4. a) Words for green- lime, fresh, grassy, rural, leafy, emerald, bottle green, unripe, and sea green. b) My words for green- unripe banana, trees, Earth, mould, granny smith apple 5.
a) Its literal meaning is that the invading country is going to balance power by taking over and being the only one. b) To Australia this meant that they would become conquered people. To the invaders it meant they would become more powerful. 6. The long term plans they were talking about was how they were going to hunt animals to eat and the sort of meals they could make.
They were getting pretty keen about their survival plans. Chapter 14 - 16. 1. a) Ellie discovered in chapter fourteen the hermit's hut. It was made of bark and sticks and leaves.
It was next to the river and there was an apple tree and some roses growing in front of the hut. b) The reason why finding the hut was so important is so they could look at how the hermit survived and they could get ideas for them selves. 2. a) The documents were- a boring sermon, a newspaper article about the funeral of the family shot by the hermit at Mt Tumbler and a formal, government sealed paper which was the coroner's finding about the deaths. b) The reason why they left the documents where they found them was because they wanted to think about them and also they would be back to see the hut again.
Chapters 17 - 22. 1. The good news that Robyn told everybody was that all of the people in the showgrounds were in good nick. They were all healthy. 2. When they said they wanted a clean invasion they meant they didn't want any killing or any fighting. 3.
a) Homer was being sarcastic. He was a bit angry probably, but, also, he was trying to jolt Fi out of her fear and self pity. b) A terminator is an android programmed to kill. They keep going till they have accomplished their mission. A robo cop is a policing robot.
An android is a robot set up to look human. 4. a) Ellie meant that in nature things happen naturally. The dragon fly eats the mosquito and the mosquito bites the human. It is a food cycle.
Not evil. b) Yes. I do agree with Ellie's conclusion about evil. I think that only humans are Evil. All animals do what they are meant to do. They do things naturally.
Some humans are evil. Killing and going to war is not natural. Humans are the only evil ones on earth.
