In my essay I will talk about the three major obstacle that were put out into the island that changed Ralph and the rest of the kids life forever. The three major obstacles were domination over each other, fear, and anger. I will further explain my reasons of choosing these obstacles in my essay. The first obstacle was anger, Jack was suppose to watch the fire so that if there was a plane they would see the smoke and come rescued them. Jack and the hunters went hunting for a pig for supper. While they theft the fire went out, over at the beach Ralph and Piggy spotted a plane in the horizon, when Ralph looked to see if the fire was still going, what he saw was no smoke he was angry at Jack.
Ralph then realized that jack didnt want to be rescued he wanted to control everyone. The second obstacle was there rules that Ralph wanted to use to keep them more grounded and stay in a group. He believed that if they worked together the more of a chance that they would be rescued. Jack didnt want to fallow by the rules mainly because he wanted to make the rules and order people around. His attitude towards Ralph soon reflected on to the other kids mainly the hunters. The conch was no use to them and they wanted to fallow Jack, He decided to have his own gang.
The last obstacle was the domination over each other; Ralph was chosen to be leader, this made Jack jealous of him. Jack wanted to have control over the kids. The jealousy grew in jack he soon gained control over the kids that were hunting with him. They soon wanted to join him; this led to the separation of the group. The novel had made me see what was going on around my school. The author (W.
Golding) wanted to show that we were all born with evil in us and that it wasnt how we were brought up. I personally enjoyed this novel and hope for others to read it and experience the true meaning of the book.
