Was the death of Marilyn Monroe: accident, suicide or cold-blooded murder? In order to understand whether or not the death of Marilyn Monroe was an accident, suicide or cold-blooded murder one needs to look in to the life, childhood and career of Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jean Mortenson at nine thirty am on the first day of June 1926. Her last name would later be changed to Baker. She was born to mother Gladys Monroe-Baker and a father who she would never know the true identity of. Gladys who worked as a film cutter for a movie studio suffered from a condition called Paranoid schizophrenia.
Which she had an 8 to 18 % chance of passing on to her daughter. If she were to pass this condition on to her daughter than Norma Jean would suffer the symptoms of Confusion, inability to make decisions, hallucinations, unusual perceptions and disorder thinking which leads to talking in nonsense, these symptoms lead to an increased chance of committing suicide. The children of Paranoid schizophrenia sufferers are thirteen times more at risk of suffering from other mental illnesses including, anxiety, depression and substance abuse, which also increases the risk of suicide or an accidental drug overdose. Norma Jeans child hood was anything but happy the world around me was kind of grim. As there were no treatments for Paranoid Schizophrenia Gladys was sent to a mental asylum, leaving Norma Jean to be shipped from one foster home to another (even living in an orphanage for two years).
Being shifted from home to home would leave Norma Jean feeling un loved and rejected. A family friend of her mothers named Grace McKee eventually took her in. She lived with the Mc Kees until they needed to move for Mr. Mc Kees work.
They were unable to take Norma Jean with them so she was encouraged to marry the son of a neighbor who she had been dating for only six weeks. The marriage took place just weeks after her sixteenth birthday in 1942. The marriage was neither happy nor sad for the young adolescent. When her husband Jimmy Dougherty, a Merchant Marines officer was sent to war, Norma Jean got a job and an aircraft inspecting plant where she painted planes. During this time she became very lonely and turned to the drink to ease her boredom. This was the beginning of a problem, which she would have with her for the rest of her life.
During her time working at the Radio Plane Munitions factory she was spotted by a photographer who offered her $ 5 an hour to model for him, which she accepted. This did a little to heighten her spirits but did nothing to improve her marriage. When her husband got back from the war she divorced him, the marriage lasted only four years. Her modeling lead to her being noticed by Ben Lyon a casting director who interviewed her and gave her a contract.
The contract stated two important things; firstly, that she would be paid $ 75 a week. Secondly that she needed to change her name to something less plain. Lyon chose the name Marilyn that was added to her mothers maiden name of Monroe; it was then that the new star, Marilyn Monroe was born. Unfortunately the name and career change, didnt take away the many insecurities and demons from her childhood, which she would take with her to the grave. She was given a longer part in one more movie before Twentieth Century fox decided not to renew the rising stars contract. She went back to modeling and acting school to pass the time before being given a parts in a movies by Colombia, MGM before fox decided to give the now platinum blonde another chance. Her personal and professional life started to look brighter, as well as being renewed by FOX she started dating the man who would become her second husband, baseball star Joe DiMaggio pair married after a year of dating the. This union wouldnt last she divorced DiMaggio by October the following year, the marriage only lasted eight months. Her grounds for divorce were that he was mentally cruel to her During their marriage, DiMaggio would inflict many acts of emotional and physical abuse up on Monroe.
He was insanely jealous of any men his wife had contact with. After yet another suspension from FOX Monroe decided to take control of her career and develop her own Movie Production Company, to she and friend Milton Green, Marilyn Monroe Productions was born. Whilst she took control of her movie career, she still was not happy. Her marriage with playwright Arthur Miller did little to improve her state of happiness. Over the next few years Monroe would become depressed and suffer a number of nervous breakdowns, illnesses, which could be linked back with living with a mother who had schizophrenia.
By 1960 Monroe couldnt handle the stress which came with her career. She was late to filming sessions, if she even turned up at all, to not one but several films. She began to take comfort in drugs and alcohol other symptoms of living with a schizophrenic during childhood. This was the year, which she began to see physiatrist Dr Ralph Greenson; he would drive her into deeper depression, he would eventually make Monroe so dependent on him that he would be able to make him do anything. Greenson believed in the generous use of drugs, supplying her with the sleeping pill barbiturate, which she would abuse until she died. She was given one final chance with FOX a part in the unfinished 1962 move somethings got to give.
She showed the same behavioral problems, so she was fired. That same year she was rumored to have had affairs with both Kennedy brothers. In July 1962 she the relationships ended abruptly by the Kennedy party, Monroe was shattered; she so upset that she threatened to go public with the relationships. A few months later she was found dead. The official version of events of Monroe's death was this: Monroe was found by her maid Eunice Murray, lying face down on her bed with her phone in her hand, the door locked and the light on. Her psychiatrist (Greenson) was called, who immediately came over broke down the door and discovered that she was dead.
They called the police who concluded that it was probable suicide as there were many empty Barbiturate bottles on her night table. The autopsy done by Dr. Noguchi stated that Monroe had committed suicide, by the amount of sedatives in her body and the fact that there were no signs of foul play and Her previous suicide attempts. There are many conflicting stories to this as during the final month of her life Monroe did not show any signs of suicide, in fact she showed signs of someone that was finally turning their life around. In the weeks leading up to Monroe's death her life was beginning to turn around both professionally and personally. There were new movies, which she was excited about staring in and a possible reconciliation with husband DiMaggio.
She for the first time in a long time seemed to be genuinely happy. This seams to take out the suicide possibility, although it can be argued that she was happy because she knew that she was going to die and leave this life in which she was rarely truly happy. But if she were planing to commit suicide she wouldnt take on new movie prospects or consider remarrying her ex husband. If it was suicide then there would have had to have been traces of the Barbiturate capitol in Monroe's stomach which there were not.
There was also no yellow die in which the Barbiturate is packaged. In the few inquires about her death, there were many conflicting stories, starting with Monroe's maid Murray and her son in law. Murray's son in law Norman Jeffries stated that Robert Kennedy and associates at approximately 10: 30 p. m.
ordered him and Murray out of Monroe's house. When they returned Jeffries said that he saw Monroe laying face down on her bed holding a phone. Murray said that she had gone to check on Monroe later and became concerned when she saw Monroe laying on the bed with the phone in her hand at approximately three in the morning. If Jeffries had seen Monroe at approximately 12: 30 wouldnt he have told Murray? Greenson told investigators that he had been called at approximately 3: 00 am and gone to Monroe's estate broken down the door and discovered she was dead. An ambulance driver and chief of the ambulance company claimed that she was in a coma when the ambulance arrived she was in a coma but died in hospital.

It is suggested that the Kennedys ordered her murder because she threatened to go public with the affairs, doing this would have ruined both the Kennedy brothers political careers. This rumor is substantiated by Jeffries statement, which was backed up by a neighbor who allegedly saw the Kennedy brother enter Monroe's house with a mystery man who had a medical bag. A lot of documents mysteriously disappeared, from Monroe home on the day of her death, which would be very bad if they found their way to the press. If it was if it was an accident or suicide why would documents mysteriously disappear? It is suggested that the Mob had murdered Monroe in order to pay back the Kennedys for the strike against them.
But why would the mob go to all the trouble of covering the death up? The events of Monroe's death will never be known for certain as nothing can be proved or discredited, many people believe that Monroe's death was murder whilst just as many believed it to be suicide or accidental.
