In this essay I am going to identify four of the main characters with key words, then I am going to choose a moment from the book that sums up each character. Next I will briefly explain the plot. In Throwaways one of the main characters is Sky. She is very weary of her little brother, Chip, who forgets about their parents (who have abandoned Sky and Chip) and gets on with his life. Sky, however, If I were to pick out some key words for Sky they would be: inquisitive, she asks a lot of questions, and judgement, she doesnt trust her own judgement. The key word to describe Spindor is good-hearted. He is good-hearted in And lastly Dig. Dig is very good to Sky helping her to find her place in the tip, even though Sky wants to be as far away from the tip as possible. Dig is very generous because he shares his home with Sky and Chip. He is also kind to Sky whenever she needed help. He is also practical.

For Chip I am going to choose a quote on page 38, Chip nodded happily. Sky could see that he was quite content with his surroundings. I chose this because of me saying earlier about him being contented with his life.
For Spindor I chose this I want to use the money to buy a place, right out in the country, where kids like you, who havent been corrupted yet, can get away from all this and make fresh start. (page 129) because of how kind he is to Sky. I am choosing this one for Dig for the same reasons as Spindor how kind and helpful he is to Sky Dig isnt one of them. Just unlucky. Hes very kind and The plot is basically about two children who get abandoned by their parents and one of them just wishes that she could make more of her own choices in life.
But when gets the chance to do this she doesnt like it. Then they meet Dig, Sky and her younger brother end up on the tip with Dig making a life as a picker. Forever running from the catchers they live rough until they meet someone different from all the other catchers, someone called Spindor. His plan is to buy a house, set right his conscience and get children off the street.
The main theme of this book is obviously homelessness and children on the street. The authors message is that there should be less homeless children and how it isnt easy living on the streets and more should be done to help them. I feel the same as the author does that not enough is I preferred Stone Cold because it was a better story and it was more realistic in the fact of homelessness. Bibliography:
