1. The major advantage offered from IBM is the name itself. IBM is a well-known company that has been around for a while. If Jerry thinks about his future there is probably a better chance for him to climb the corporate ladder working at IBM then any of his other offers. 2. The reason the family business is so competitive with the IBM offer is because he can stay at home and work for his dad who obviously he can trust.
Jerry also has the opportunity to one-day take over the family business when his dad retires. One of the main reasons it is so competitive is the money factor. It seems like Jerry wont be able to decide what he wants to do so he should just listen to his wife and make her happy.
