David 1 - 6 - 99 English period 9 Mr. Weinstein LeMond I read this book because I am a bike fanatic. I really love to go Bike Riding. Another reason why I wanted to read this book was because the book was about the Tour De France and I am amazed by this race and what great athletes they have to be to finish a two thousand mile race in only the short time of three weeks. The most important thing that I have read about in this book was when Greg LeMond got shot by accident while he was hunting, and the amazing recovery that he made. This was very important because before Greg had gotten shot he used to be in all kinds of races and he would win a lot.

But when he got shot in the chest he had nearly died. Doctors say that if Greg had gotten to the hospital fifteen minutes later he would have died from blood loss. Before the accident Greg had won the Tour De France and he wanted to win it again. He went to rehab after the accident for two years and he couldnt be in the Tour De France for two years this accident really damaged his career but he wouldnt let it stop him from winning the Tour De France again. Greg LeMond was a very determined man and he wouldnt let anything change his mind wen it was set on something. This book shows how determined you can be if you dont let anything get in your way.

Another important thing about this book was that Greg always had his parents and his wife s support. This was very important because without the encouragement that they gave him he wouldnt have been able to win the Tour De France again after his accident. Greg LeMond was the first American to win the Tour De France. If I was a teacher I would teach all of my students that this book has one of the best themes, and that theme is to never give up no matter how bad the situation is. This should be a very important theme in everybody s life because if Greg had given up he would have been out of a career and he would make very little money.

It was also good that he didnt give up because if he had given up he wouldnt of won the Tour De France ever again. This is a very important theme that everybody should follow especially people who arent as fortunate as other people. I thought that this was a very good book because it shows you that if you are determined and you set your mind on something you can accomplish it no matter what. This is shown when Greg got shot and he still wanted to race in the Tour De France and many other big races even though he had to go through two years of rehab he would not give up what he loved to do the most. I would recommend this book to everybody especially to people who have no hope and think that they are at the end of their line. It is very important to always have hope in your life or you will never be successful in life.

This is the best book that I have ever read. This book was so good because it was an incredible comeback for LeMond. VOCABULARY WORDS THAT WERE IN THE BOOK 1.
