My Sharkskin Suit My Sharkskin Suit explained a child who wanted a sharkskin suit because they were very popular and not a lot of people had them in his neighborhood. Ed s father bought him the suit and gave it to him on Easter Sunday. Ed thought the first place he could wear it was church. Unfortunately, they just had a terrible snowstorm, so the roads were filled with snow. Ed decided he was going to walk to church regardless if it was snowing; he wanted to show off his suit to all the kids. However, when Ed arrived none of the kids were there.
Not only was Ed disappointed, his suit was also ruined from the snow, it shrunk to where it was not even wearable. After sitting in church, freezing, he did not think it could get any worse, but then he realized his parents were going to be very angry. Ed did not go home at first, he went to his hiding spot and sat there for four hours, until his brother came and literally picked him up and took him home. Ed was very scared and nervous to see his mother, until he saw his her face. She did not have a look of anger, but a look of love.
She realized he had already punished himself enough. The beginning of the story was sad. I felt very bad for Ed; he had such a terrible day. All he wanted to do was show off his suit and be popular for the day. However, his mother made it all up to him. Although, Ed did not have his suit, he had a mother to give him the love he needed to get through his awful day.
