I m writing to you about my awesome summer experience. I had the privilege of going to the Woodstock 99 festival in Rome New York. It was the best thing that I have ever experienced in my life. I went with my boyfriend and two of our closest friends and we were going to meet more of our friends when we got there. It was a six hour drive that ended up being an eight hour drive for us.
On our way, just our luck we got a flat tire! When we finally got near the premises it was at least a two hour wait to even get into the parking lot. At this point all of us were irritable and frustrated from being in this small car for hours at a time. When we reached the parking lot, our destination, we were pumped up and ready for the best three days of our lives. Once we got settled we were in need for some sleep. The first day of Woodstock had finally come!
There were two stages one called the east stage which was the main stage where all the really good performers played and then there was the west stage. I had never gone to any sort of concert before until then so I didn't know what to expect. The first person who we saw perform was the famous James Brown. He got the crowd pumped up and ready for the day. It was very hot and humid all three days which made everyone exhausted and dehydrated. The main part of our trip we spent at the water spouts.
The amount of people there was amazing. I have never seen that many people before in my life and probably never will again. The different faces and identities was the most interesting thing of all. Coming from the small city of Somersworth seeing the normal faces everyday of my life was a big change for me. To see the funky and outrageous people made me realize how big the world is. Woodstock made me look at the world in a whole different perception.
When I look at people now I never judge a person for their outside because meeting the people at Woodstock proved that its not fair to stereotype anyone. So it was not only about the music and the raves but also about people in general. Well Mr. Mackenzie, I hope that you have the chance to experience people the way I got to.
See you at the next Woodstock in about five years. Your # 1 hippie, Morgan Bibliography:
