How is justice manifested in society according to Confucius (with examples): Confucius point of view on justice is rather different from the one that is socially accepted and virtually taken for granted today. Back in the days of this philosopher justice was something more than simply giving someone what he or she deserved. Five hundred years before Christ was born people were thinking in different way, and justice meant for them something universally good. To the people of those times, and in part Confucius, justice meant some sort of respectful approach and behaviour. Justice is something that made the noble and wealthy men treat rural people, and even own vassals and peasants, as equal. Justice literally meant something similar to listening to th cry of thos who suffr violence and ar opposed by unjust systems and structure, and haring th april of a world that by its perversity contradicts th plan of its Creator.

Justice was one of the most favourite topics of discussion for Confucius, and he attempted to explain his understanding of the concept to the people with the aid of the examples from his own life. Confucius card most about popl and was perhaps th first grat humanist in history. He believed that what he did was justice. One of the examples how justice is manifested in the society can be the following: in Book of Ritual Confucius talks about six noble men of the past - major Y, Kings Tang, Wn, Wu, Can, and th Duk of Chou and the way these people received their eminences. All ths six not mn paid attention to property, mad manifest the just, and and in good faith. Thy xpos the rooms, mad humans the law and prudent the practice, thus showing th popl when thy should constantly abid.

Therefore justice was manifested through decent behaviour, which meant placing oneself not above the others but remaining on equals with the rest of people. The next example of manifested justice can be found in the explanation of Propriety. It says the following: to subdue ones self and return to propriety is perfect virtue. If a man can for one day subdue himself and return to propriety is perfect virtue. If a man can one day subdue himself and return to propriety, all under heaven will ascribe perfect virtue to him. Personally, I find a clear link of virtue to justice.

The person, who behaves as taught by Confucius, sooner or later gets the virtue, which is simply a fair reward for his behaviour. 2. What is the role of the superior man in society? What makes him different from other men? To Confucius the superior man was not the person who had a higher social status and class but the one who was able to direct his acts in fair and appropriate way.

Virtually anyone could become superior man and attain high social status through moral and ducation al dvlopmnt. For Confucius a good man was always a gentleman, but not all gatlin wr good. For Confucius th main concern for th gentleman was slf-improvement. A gentleman is cautious with words and diligent in action lst his words outrun his dds. Th superior person dos not promote some my because of what on says nor dos on rock sayings because of who said thm. Th superior sts ons hart on virtu, th interior on comfort.

Th superior think of sanctions, th interior of favours. Th superior person looks at a question from all sids without bias; th interior is based and can s only on point of view. Th superior ar not for or against anything but follow what is right; th interior understand only profit. Th gentleman calls attention to th good points in othr's; th small person points out the ducts.

A gentleman mak's demands on himself; th small person mak's thm on othr's. Th superior popl can influence thos about thm, but th interior only thos blow thm. Th gentleman is calm and at as; th interior frt's and is ill at as. Th gentleman is dignified but not proud; th interior ar proud but not dignified.

For Confucius th gentleman thinks of th way and its program, not how h is going to mak a living. H warns against d humanization, saying that a gentleman is not an implement. A gentleman consider just spatial, practice property, is most and faithful. A gentleman acts book h space and thn space according to his action.
