Family Du Bois considered being the first American sociologist of religion and one of the first social theorists of race. In his works he concentrated our attention on the right of women, their right to choose for themselves, the life worth living. He spoke in favor of free womanhood and womens economic independence. He thought that treatment to the Black women as nurses and housekeepers effected degradation of the Black women, and hailed the efficiency of her womanhood. Du Bois pointed the role of the married woman. According to his work a woman is as a feeling and thinking person after marriage as before it.

A woman has a right to have opinions and to express them. Du Bois words were treated more to the Black women because they felt more humiliation. Many of his ideas were used by black feminists. They considered modern world worships both virgins and mothers, but a future woman must have a life work and economic independence.

She must have the right of motherhood at her own decision. To solve the problem is not an easy way. The situation was established during the long period of history. From the earliest times before the Civil War the crushing weight of slavery fell on the Black woman. There was no legal marriage and no legal families.

Then the role of the Black women changed from mammy to cotton picker. It was in the early twentieth century, a period of reconstruction for the United States. Black women became antislavery activists and leaders of the family units. At that time for many black women the main goal was to believe that black women should help other black women, and the main supporters should be black men.

But the white oppression of the black women was a result of the pressure of the black male. Industrialization of the nineteenth century brought the separation of home and work. It was the primary transformation of the American families. Then a traditional family appeared. It was when the husband went out to work and the wife stayed at home. The black women of the dual career marriage created an opposition to others sitting to escape the cult of domesticity and it was the second great family transformation.

Nowadays young black women are not anxious to rush into marriage in young age. They prefer to marry when they have finished school and established themselves in their jobs. And in such case racial diversity is of great importance. Only thirty eight percent of Black women aged 25 30 had ever been married.

In the modern world there is an idea of "nuclear family", black or white. The "nuclear family" consists of the father, mother, and children... A statistic says that over 60 percent of American families are headed by single parents. One can stereotypically think that this applies to African-American families alone. But there is a great deal of truth in it. The black family exists, but there is no real nuclear black family.

May be it is from the history of Black families. Black women for centuries have supported families without the aid of men. Otherwise Black women will continually be trapped in the slavery and playing the role as public enemy to the state, to the black male, and to the black family. May be the instigator of the crises in "black manhood" is the black woman.

But in most cases the result of the black male father abandoning is black single motherhood. Black men have habitually chosen throughout history to abandon their pregnant wives and girlfriends. The fact considered being well known that a male without a father produces more psychological harm than a female. I think nobody knows the truth.

Researchers agree that a child who lack father figures are more diminished cognitive development and poor school performance. Divorce, death and abandonment are all forms of absence. But nevertheless they affect a childs development differently. The age at which a child loses her, his father is of importance.

Fathers' absence not only influence the ability to make sound decisions. It also provocateur negative reactions as opposed to positive ones. Children who lose their fathers before age seven tend to show significant reduction in awareness and differentiation of their broader social environment. Black woman now are women of powerful voice and mind producing musical lyrics, movie and cinema, writing novels, producing art and so on which more accurately reflects the black woman. Even while making dramatic gains in education and the ranks of skilled workers, professional and management jobs, black women are also the most likely group to show up in poverty and hunger statistics, and among single-parent households on public assistance. For many centuries Black women have had to confront and overcome double oppression racism and sexism.

Though there is some evidence that women enjoyed greater status and rights in ancient and traditional African civilizations and societies. Nowadays there are a lot of works on civil rights, on race and racism. And the role of a Black woman in contemporary society becomes more and more significant. At the and it is necessary to make a conclusion that according to Du Bois words Black women have been reduced to child bearers and wives... They are taught to marry and have a family. That is why the family structure is fading to divorce.

Women and men need to find their place in life before giving their lives. They are not allowed to obtain their true stake in life. Many women have had to give their lives away while men are free to walk away. What Du Bois is saying is find your freedom before you do anything. Your freedom is in education and economic independence. With that your struggle is less with or without anyone in your life.
