University: Lecturer: Course: Date: Sheriffs department core values Terrorism is common in the United States of America; it is a major cause of insecurity among the people living in Los Angeles. It has become so hard for people to move on due to ugly marks left behind by these attacks. In the bid for unity amongst the people, the sheriffs department came in handy with values to help settle this issue. (Leroyd, 2005) Leaders working in different departments were guided by those values created in the Sheriffs department. They were expected to honor the duties assigned to them, respectful to all the people in the community, show integrity and honesty in choosing what is right from wrong, being fair and realistic in judgment, using their common senses appropriately. But most importantly, they were to resist all forms of discriminations such as nepotism, tribalism, racism, sexism, Anti-Semitism, homophobia, bigotry etc (Beca, 2005) Departmental functions ware tasked with the establishment of awareness on the likelihood of terrorism in advance. The essence of this is to enhance effective communication and establish networks, to help people share ideas on how to prepare and deal with attacks once they occur.
The establishment of home ground security was divided into task groups. The groups had a common role of preparing for the attacks, prevention and response to attacks. Another crucial thing is working in collaboration with agencies responsible for enforcing law, such as the Anti- Defamation League (ADL). This is in the effort to enhance trust from the communities and more so enhance safety (Troy, 2006) These values are sources of encouragement into dealing with not only attacks but all tragedies that occur in daily life. Most of all it helps me to establish good relationship with the people living around me. It motivates me on the spirit of teamwork and togetherness.
