Revenge of the Sith (1) The release of 2005 space-opera movie Revenge of the Sith was being anxiously anticipated by Star Wars fans, because it was supposed to provide them with understanding of the reasons why Anakin Skywalker decided to switch alliances, in favor of the Dark Side of the Force. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the movie did not disappoint them. It appears that the most important reason for this was the fact that Revenge of the Sith is more of a psychological thriller then an adventure tale. Movie promotes Gnosticism as a way of dealing with every-day life challenges and it also contains numerous socio-political implications, which provide viewers with the insight on the essence of contemporary politics. It might very well be the case that, in fifty years from now, when majority of Americans choose in favor of surrendering their freedoms in exchange for security, Revenge of the Sith is going to be referred to as something that was meant to warn people about the illusive and even appealing nature of evil. (2) Just as it became customary for all Star Wars episodes, the movie is filled with various special effects.

This alone makes Revenge of the Sith worthy of seeing. However, it would be wrong to say that these effects represent movies most memorable feature, as it is the case with the rest of episodes. What sets Revenge of the Sith apart is the fact that it features a superior performance, on the part of the actors, engaged in movies production. Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman were able to become one with their characters, which is the reason that it might seem that there is no much acting involved in dialogues between them. However, it is Ian McDiarmid who gives out a performance of his life. Darth Sidious, played by McDiarmid, is both - attractive and repulsing.

In fact, his ideas make more sense than the ideas of Jedi Knights, who act similarly to the modern promoters of political correctness, while trying to adjust surrounding reality to their political beliefs, without being able to affect the flow of events. Revenge of the Sith has a submerging effect on the viewers, because of cinematographic techniques, used in the production. We get to see the action from variety of different angles, which entitles it with truly realistic properties. It is obvious that producers did not have to deal with the lack of finances, while shooting Revenge of the Sith. In its turn, this allows viewers to experience an emotional comfort, while being in the theater, in the same way people get to enjoy riding expensive cars, because of the aura of exclusivity that surround such cars.

Unlike majority of Hollywood movies that are being produced for mass consumption, Revenge of the Sith does not exploit marginalization of American society, as the main sales stimulus. We can only be grateful to producers who did not include banal phrases and shallow jokes in dialogues between characters, because it would significantly reduce movies value. Apparently, George Lukas enjoyed the luxury of making movie the way he envisioned it, instead of being constantly concerned with increasing episodes commercial appeal. At the same time, it would be wrong to suggest that Revenge of the Sith is spared of fallacies altogether. For example, it does not provide us with a clue as to why Darth Sidious became disfigured, after he used blue lighting, in the fight with Mace Windu. In Return of Jedi, Luke was hit by the same lightning, without any apparent harm being done to his physical appearance.

It is also clear that Lukas needed to appease the hawks of political correctness, in order for the movie to be allowed for release, which is the reason why Jedi Council appears to be the organization, where members are being preoccupied with celebration of diversity more then with anything else. At the same time, this can be viewed as something that caused their ultimate demise. Nevertheless, Revenge of the Sith is a good movie that is based on actors solid performance. It contains many original ideas, the true significance of which will only become apparent to people in the future, if current socio-political trends in America maintain their momentum.
