Beauty as Power There are many definitions of what the concept of beauty stands for. However, most of them suggest that beauty only has a decorative function, which points out to the fact that these definitions lack depth. Once we become aware of the degree to which society is obsessed with the concept of beauty, it will appear that this notion has much wider implications than what it is commonly assumed. We can say that beauty is power, because it is impossible to talk about it outside of evolutionary context. If we look at the organisms that were evolving for millions of years, while being subjected to the constant process of natural selection, we would have to agree that one of their main characteristics is physical beauty.
