For years, the issues on the causes and effects of Global Warming have been the major subject of many discussions among scientists. These issues had also been printed in many publications around the world. I would like to think that this issue is not new to you, because I believe there had been efforts of previous leaders, as well as your administration, in somehow educating people about the effects of using harmful chemicals to tour environment; industrial companies have also been regulated on the emission of their by-products to our atmospheres. But why do we still feel the threats of much destructive effects of Global Warming?
Are the implementing laws on the protection of our ecosystems effective? Honestly, I really dont know the answer. But the increasing earths temperature and the destructive bombardment of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans may answer the questions that boggle my mind. Studies have shown that the earths temperature continue to increases at an average of 2? to 5? C by the year 2050.
This increase in temperature may seem very low, but the effects in the long run would kill our animals due to the altered habitat where they used to live. It can also melt our polar caps, thus coastal and low-lying coastal areas will be flooded soon. This would also bring fluctuation on the earths temperature that may result in much stronger and destructive typhoons, just like what happened to New Orleans, as I have mentioned, that killed a myriad. Mr. President, I am not writing this letter to put too much responsibility to you about this issue.
What I am trying to insinuate is that, Global Warming is an issue that needs extensive attention and should be addressed well. I am asking for your help on what we can do to provide tangible solutions, so that more and more people will cooperate and somehow lessen the effects of Global Warming.
