I assent with the speaker that the luxuries and conveniences have prevented people from developing into truly strong but I also assert that Man lives in great comfort today and he has no longer to work hard like his forefathers. He enjoys the cinema, the radio and television. He can talk with his friends thousands miles away from him through the telephone.
He has no longer travel on foot. He can travel comfortably without any fatigue in cars, air condition trains, buses etc. He has no longer to bear the hardships of weather. In the summer he can cool his house by electric coolers and in the winter he can heat them by electric heaters. But luxuries and conveniences are just mere tools of pleasure and pleasure is short lived. These luxuries have given slaves to man like machines, which do all work from him, and he lives like a lord.
Human pain and suffering have been conquered by science. These all tools have made man the master of nature but the other side of this picture is blank and dark. These luxuries have made the man materialistic, this has no influence on the spiritual element. These luxuries have made man morally bankrupt. Man thinks only of the body but not of the soul. His individuality is lost as he has is no identity of his own.
His independency is lost because he is now being dependent on luxuries; these are nothing but just artificial nature that is providing the comfort to him. His mind has become dead; he is no longer inspired by noble ideas and ideals. These luxuries have not increased his wisdom. Now the machines are becoming master of men.
