I heard about you deciding to add a class to the schedule next year. I also heard that you wanted student suggestions and, I think that I have a very good suggestion. I would like to see a study hall added to the schedule next year. My reasons for wanting this class added are: grades for a majority of students would go up, it would give us time to do make-up work or homework we might not have time for after school, and it would also encourage students to try harder in school.
First, if we had a study hall added to our schedules then I think that a majority of our class's grades would improve. If we had a class in school with free time to do our studying it would definitely help. My cousin Lacy used to never study for anything but now since she has a study hall period her grades have gone from low B's and high C's to high A's and B's. 45 % of my cousin's classmate's grades have improved also. Did you ever study outside of school if you could find a way to avoid it? Well, a lot of students here try to find anything for an excuse, but if we had a study hall period then they wouldn't have an excuse. Furthermore, a lot of students don't have very much time after school to do their homework or make-up work because of after school jobs and sports.
Did you participate in after school activities when you were in high school? If so, did you have time for all of your homework? I play sports after school and I also baby-sit young children after school; therefore, I am not able to do my homework until nine or ten o'clock. If I had a class to do it in at school, it would definitely get done and my grades would improve. At least 15 % of the students in all of my classes aren't able to turn in their homework everyday because they were to busy the night before. My older brother plays baseball, he is in one act play, and he has to take care of his show cows.
He is always struggling to keep his grades above failing because he doesn't have time to do all of the stuff listed above and homework. He said that if he had a study hall class then he wouldn't have a problem with his grades. Finally, I think it would encourage students to try harder in school. A lot of teachers don't realize that they " re not helping students enough in regular class.
When teachers accidentally ignore or put-off students they don't realize how much it could affect the student. This makes the students want to give up or quit trying. I f their was a study hall period it would give the teachers more one on one time with the students. When you were in high school did you get all of the attention or help from teachers you needed? Over 20 % of teenagers are quitting school every year because they feel that the teacher don't care enough to help them. My dad quit high school because he felt that he wasn't learning anything because the teachers didn't help him like he needed to be helped.
In conclusion, I think that adding a study hall period would be very good for the school. It would be useful by helping us raise our grades, it would give us time to do make-up work and homework we might not have time for after school, it would also encourage students to try harder.
