S. cavalrymen. The Indians are hiding from the men that they once called neighbors. The neighbors became soulless creatures who took ingenious tools and weapons to accomplish mad ends. They threatened banishment or death to the Indians.
The Native Americans obviously didnt want to leave the homeland that their fathers father once built on. Eventually the last major war between the two sets of savages, ended with the end of the 19 th century. A stupefying record of greed and treachery, of heroism and pain, had come to closure, a record forever staining the immense history of the westward movement, which in its drama and tragedy is also distinctly and an unforgettable American tragedy. The cavalryman is demanding the departure of the Native American people.
He is telling the Native Americans that there is no use in hiding, they should come out and lay your arms down, because I will call this home. He is threatening the stay of the Native Americans. The Indians feel a right to remain on the land. Yet, the soldier gave his warning, and explains that if they choose to stay, then I will bury you. The narrator states that there is no room for both, just for them. This is the place that the cavalrymen will spread their wings, making this their new colonies.
The horse is leaving, and they shouldnt miss the boat, meaning that the Indians have a chance to leave now or suffer later. However, the Native Americans, refuse. They feel they cant leave because of the past that they shared here and their fathers spirit lives in this place. The controversy is concluded when the narrator rests his feet by the fire and retires. He can call the heaven he built home, because youre all dead now. Now, they can live with justice.

Everyone is a product of our time and circumstances accepted at that time. The Indian Removal Act is a part of what society is made up of today. Such acts as this are compared to the German Holocaust in the 1930 s and 40 s, the medieval witnesses of slavery and killings in Scandinavia, and the discrimination of the African Americans. Each event isnt forgotten, but we hope to learn from them.
