The creation of human beings has numerous myths and stories that were initially wrote in history. These are stories that tell how the first race of mankind came into being and the different things that the Gods had to encounter during their Creations. When we think of creation, we think of how things were in the beginning of time and how they were suppose to be, based on these stories and myths that are noted. Many people only know of one main creation, and that is the creation that God made men of dust in his own image and blew his breath into him. It seems before I started to begin to broaden my knowledge with stories and or myths, I truly believed the same, but now I also can say I ve had the opportunity to encounter more than just that one story or myth of creation. The time of today does state that this particular story of God s Creation is the true story based on the teachings of today.

In this essay, I plan to discuss three simple version of the creation of mankind or what we call human beings. These stories and myths take part first in Ovid s Metamorphoses when Prometheus molded man into mankind, secondly they spoke of Posenberg s World Mythology when the god Quetzacoatl, of this time created mankind from bones that he stole, and finally the new King James version of the Bible when God created man from dust in the image of himself. In all stories the God s work really hard to create the race of mankind and had to encounter different things. The first version of the creation of mankind came after the Gods creation of world was lacking something. A holier creature, of a loftier mind, fit master of the rest, was still lacking. (Ovid-Metamorphoses pg 3). The earth that had everything but the race of mankind called on their God Prometheus.

Prometheus mixed sand with water in the likeness of Gods that ruled the world. These men were made to gather food, work hard and build shelter for their own homes. When this age of mankind came all things change for worst. During this time all turned on all mankind, no one was safe from others.

As mankind began to get worst, the Almighty Father clashed out the thunderbolts and killed all. The earth swallowed the blood of these murderous people to place back where came. The second version of the creation of mankind happens in the fifth world. In this world, Quetzacoatl was the head God. While he was preparing to create the new race of humans, his first decision was that they needed food to eat for nourishment of their bodies.

Quetzalcoatl had to go and search for food that would give his human race this nourishment. While he was asking around for the different foods that the current critters used for their nourishment, he encountered a population of ants. The ants told him of the grains of corn that they ate. Quetzacoatl felt the only way he could get the corn from the ants was to openly ask for it, but turn himself into an black ant and build a separate pile for his human beings to eat. Once he finally got enough corned piled up, he went to the second part of his creation.

He traveled around until he came upon the Lord of the Dead Land in the underworld. Here he asks the Lord of the Dead Land for the bones he had buried. The Lord of the Dead told him that he was not going to give up anything that belongs to The Land of Dead. Quetzacoatl told the Lord that the bones of his father were buried here and very dear to him.

He also told him of how he needed the bones to create a new race in remembrance of his dad. The Lord of the Dead Land told him the way for him to get the bones; he must perform a tricky deed. The Lord of the Dead Land told the servants to make sure Quetzacoatl left this Land without the bones. Well, Quetzacoatl got advice and was told to pretend to leave the bones, but to wrap them up or to hide them, so that he could take them with him. The servants were conquered and Quetzacoatl went back home. The goddess women snake broke the bones into tiny particles and people were creating both male and female.

The final version of human creation comes from the Bible. Verse twenty-six in Chapter One of Genesis say Then God said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have domain over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. From this, God created man in his own image. God created both male and female from his image, and he told them to be fruitful and multiply.

But Genesis 2: 7 gives a more understanding which says And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2: 18 - 22 says And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him. Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. In addition, whatever Adam called each living creature, which was its name.

Therefore, Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. However, for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. In addition, the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

In conclusion of all the myths or stories that were told they all have their own sentimental meaning. As I stated earlier the story that was most believed today was the story or myth of God creating man in the likeness of himself by blowing wind into a dusted figure. This God was not surround by any other Gods or Lords; he was the one and only God Almighty. The other versions depending on the time period that they favored had their reasons for standing out also.
