The story The Most Dangerous Game, by Richard Connell, is a story about hunting. In the beginning of the story, the main character, Rainsford, falls off a yacht into the ocean a couple of miles from an island called Ship-Trap island. Upon reaching the island, he fell face forward from exhaustion into a deep sleep. When Rainsford finally awoke, he started to search the island until he came upon a huge castle. After knocking on the door, he was greeted gruffly, but allowed to enter the large building. There, he met another hunter, like himself.
While talking to General Zaroff, the owner of the castle, he found out that this man hunted people. Knowing that he had little time before Zaroff started trailing him, he quickly left the castle. After making a few traps and having a few close-calls, he killed Zaroff's best dog and Zaroff's bodyguard. After he killed the bodyguard, he jumped off a cliff into the deep swelling ocean.
Later that night, when Zaroff was getting ready for bed, Rainsford jumped out from his hiding place behind the curtains where he had been waiting for Zaroff. After a brief conversation between them, Zaroff challenged Rainsford. Unfortunately for Zaroff, Rainsford was the one who slept in Zaroff's bed that night
