Jake Miller? s M. E. P. A.

Theory It was a nice, warm, sunny day in the city of Littleton, Colorado. The bell rang like it does every day, telling everyone that school was starting. This day was going to be different, though! Within a matter of hours, the? peaceful, yet busy halls? of Columbine High School would turn into a living?

Hell on Earth? by Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold! Why did this tragedy happen? Does the saying, ? Survival of the fittest? , play in this? We will take a look at this occurrence and try to explain it through my?

M. E. P. A. (Mental/Emotional/Physical Adaptation) Theory? . This theory deals not only with the physical form of evolution that Charles Darwin created, but goes much deeper into the mental, emotional and [advanced] physical evolution of the being that we call? man? .

As you probably will observe, this appears to make a domino effect, starting with the mind. Now, let us delve into this subject. Basically, you need to find food to eat and a place to sleep at night; you must do this daily. You may not think you are going through this process, but take away that great job, the possible spouse who helps you pay the bills, the social standing that you have, or put a tragic accident that takes away your working skills in there; remove the safety net that society has provided, and things will return to the primal equivalent of? square-one? in terms of survival.

Forty-five percent of Americans say that their? social standing? is what got them where they were. That? s a big number isn?

t it? First we will look at the first stage of this? evolution? , the mental stage. This stage pretty much sets the course of what every other stage will take. A hostile? physical environment?

creates a hostile? mental environment? . ? We were taunted and terrorized by the? jocks? , they called us?

faggots? , bashed us into lockers, and threw rocks at us, every day? , and 18 -year-old anonymous member of them, now, famous Trench Coat Mafia says. ? I can? t describe how? hard it was to get up in the morning and face that?

Hell, ? he continued. ? Pure Hell. ? I know what it? s like to be cornered, pushed day after day.

When an? animal? is cornered, it will, eventually, find a way to break out. ? Tell people we were harassed and that sometimes it was impossible to take? , he told a reporter. ? Tell people that? EVENTUALLY, SOMEONE WAS GONNA SNAP! ?

People can only be pushed so far! When the environment is abusive, emotions of anger and depression set in. 7 out of every 10 children who have had parents in prison will, someday, be put in jail. Also, 8 out of every 10 people who grow-up in abusive environments will, also, be abusive themselves. Just thought I? d give you something to chew on. The mind expands as new ways of survival are learned or created, thus the mind?

evolves? . Maybe Eric and Dylan saw their plan as a must for their friend? s survival. Fear is always stronger than respect!

Sometimes, though, the mind may adapt due, not only to physical surroundings, but mental environments, such a mental illness / condition , such as depression, ADHD, or more serious types, such as schizophrenia. Stage 2 is known as emotional adaptation. The mind affects the heart. A person? s feelings will reflect their thoughts. Thoughts of torment lead to anger, thoughts of pain generate depression (which eventually turns into anger), and, on a lighter note, thoughts of fun times generate feelings of happiness.

The degree of these thoughts dictate the degree of the emotions associated with them. One learns new emotions as he / she encounters new environments. You aren? t just born all the? human? emotions when you are born.

You inherit them through time, while encountering new situations. Emotions are also contagious; your smile may make someone else smile, your laugh may make someone else laugh, your frown may make someone else frown, and your sneer at somebody may make them sneer back. So your emotions affect the world more than you think. Certain emotions lead to other emotions.

A feeling of paranoia may lead to a feeling of defensiveness, and that defensiveness will eventually take you deep into the pits of anger! Stage 3, the last stage in this process is, right, you guessed it, the physical adaptation of the subject, which encompasses your actions and the way you look. Moods affect your actions. Fear or paranoia, as I said before, leads to defensiveness, the person thinking they must do whatever it takes to survive, no matter how extreme the measures may be.

That kind of mental aspect leads to feelings of anger. Eric Harris? feelings of rage led him to kill his fellow students, and through feelings of despair, kill himself. The way a person treats someone will forever affect both people! Moods may also affect the person? s appearance or the way people perceive them.

A person? s mood will affect their posture; negative feelings produce slouching. The voice is also affected; the more angered a person is, the louder and meaner they speak / sound . Whenever I? m feeling negative feelings, I sometimes dress in black. Like my feelings affect my clothing, it affects the way others dress, too.

You can usually tell the way a person is feeling by just looking at their eyes, I know I can. Eyes tell a lot! Someone? s eyes may get smaller or the eyebrows go down, when they are mad.

This physical appearance, even if it has not been affected by the emotions, may affect the emotions themselves. ? When I wear black, and I? ve got my Slipknot shirt on, I feel like a bad , ? someone said when I asked them.

People wear certain things just to fit in! That, in affect, may change their moods or emotions. This process could also be changed and go backwards through physical adaptation, to emotional adaptation, to mental adaptation. Same? domino effect? just backwards.

Like a? Domino effect? , the? aspects? of living things, in general, adapt or evolve to match their surroundings or what is set before them. That is what my? M.

E. P. A. Theory? is all about, the evolution of the mind, ? heart? , and body.

I believe I have proved my point!
