&# 65279; The Government of Canada tried to take $ 125 million dollars from Ontario taxpayers! ? It is true, supervisor Ron Mulchey proposed a $ 250 million dollar plan that would apparently provide new healthcare to Henderson Hospital, Hamilton General Hospital, and McMaster University Medical Centre. What the residents of Ontario did not know was that the plan would cost taxpayers half of the money and new health care would not be provided. It was then that the hero, MPP Brad Clark, took charge and canceled the plan; protecting Hamilton from the Government of Canada, the evil villain. The rejection of the $ 250 million dollar plan to help fix Hamilton s hospitals was a good decision by MPP Brad Clark because the money would not improve health care in Hamilton and taxpayers would lose money for no apparent reason. Firstly, rejecting the plan prevented the exchange of hospital departments and it saved the people of Ontario from investing money into a lost cause.

It was wise of Clark to reject the $ 250 million dollar plan because new healthcare departments would not be added to Hamilton s three major hospitals. I cannot support it there are no clinical efficiencies achieved, no value added for the taxpayer we are simply doing an exchange of departments between hospitals, (Frketich, Joanna. A 3). The money would only help other hospitals exchange different medical departments and there would be no apparent benefits for the hospitals or the patients. It also seems that people in Ontario are not thinking about where this money will be going. The public wants to spend this money just for the sake of getting something done.

Marvin Ryder, chairman of the HHSC board stated that people here are tired of planning they want to get to doing, (Frketich, Joanna. A 12). It is foolish of the public and of the government to spend the $ 250 million dollars on renovating the hospitals when it is obvious that no one will benefit from the renovations. Clark, however, was not foolish because of his cancellation of the plan; he realized that the hospitals would simply lose a certain medical department and trade it in for another. Hamilton General would lose its burn and trauma unit to McMaster University Medical Center (Frketich, Joanna.

A 12). This was a very controversial move in the plan and it was good of Clark to prevent it. It makes no sense in giving a functional burn and trauma unit to another hospital and getting nothing in return. MPP Brad Clark prevented pointless, but expensive, renovations to Hamilton s hospitals and saved them from certain destruction. In addition to saving Hamilton s hospitals, Clark saved the people of Hamilton from being trick by the government, and from losing a lot of money, by rejecting the $ 250 million dollar plan. Clark s rejection the proposal of the plan to renovate the hospitals saved the people of Hamilton from paying for half of the money.

According to MPP Clark, the province would only pay 50 per cent of the bill Hamilton would have to come up the other $ 125 million (Frketich, Joanna. A 12). If the taxpayers must pay for 50 per cent of the cost then people would end up losing money and not gaining any new health care. It also seems apparent that the public does not want to pay for the renovations and that is good enough reason as to why the renovation was canceled. Clark also stated that it would be difficult to raise the funds the public does not understand what they [government / hospitals ] are proposing or why they are proposing it, (Frketich, Joanna. A 12).

It is moronic for the government to try and persuade people to give up their money to renovate a hospital when no actual renovations would get done. The government would take the taxpayers money and keep it for themselves. Clark can be considered a hero for his actions. He rejected a plan that was too expensive for the community and it would offer no obvious benefit or savings to the community (Frketich, Joanna. A 3).

It would be idiotic of the people of Hamilton to spend their money on remodeling the hospitals when there would be no gain in the quality of healthcare. Clark saved taxpayers a lot of money and the city of Hamilton must thank him for that. To sum up, not improving Hamilton s healthcare and the people of Ontario losing $ 125 million dollars was good enough reason for Clark to cancel the plan to renovate Henderson Hospital, Hamilton General Hospital, and McMaster University Medical Centre. Many residents of Hamilton are asking themselves So What? How did the rejection of the plan help me?

As was mentioned before, the rejection of the plan saved taxpayers $ 125 million dollars, it prevented the pointless, but expensive, hospital renovations, and it kept the very important burn and trauma unit in Hamilton. Once again, the world was saved from a modern day superhero, a hero who called himself Clark.
