In earlier times you had many different nations that did things their own way and did not communicate among on another. This is because they were not very technologically advanced. However as technology has improved in such ways as cell phones and the internet, it has become much easier for different nations and cultures to communicate with each other. It has brought and is continuing to bring the world closer and closer together.
According to the text this would be considered globalization. The process of linking people together and making communication among them much easier than ever before. The internet, cell phones, and other things have contributed to the globalization of the nation state. Also affected by globalization is sovereignty.
This includes the sovereignty that a nation has over its states or territories. Globalization has allowed not only state-to-state trade and contracts but it has also allowed a state to make contracts and agreements with other nations as well as with other states. It tends to give a national government less control over what its states and territories do. The affect of globalization on the sovereignty of a nation also leads to the affect of globalization on democracy. In my opinion it has not changed it all that much. A democracy is run within the borders of an individual nation.
How a democracy is run depends on how the people in that particular and how the government in that country is ran. Even though the people in a country can see and hear the opinions of the citizens of another country they do not have to listen. They can make there own decisions on what they want and when they want it. Globalization has had a tremendous impact on the world.
However many characteristics still remain the same. Even though some things have been changed, with many more to come, you will always have things that are tremendously sturdy. These things will remain the same. Strong and intact.
