The Catcher in the rye J. D. Salingar This story is about this boy, Holden Caulfield, to who gets kicked out of every school, he ever was in. He feels like hes an outcast to his family because everyone smart in his family except him. Instead telling his parents, The Dean has kicked him out of school.
He wants to hitch hike out west where he will be a catcher in the rye. He has been in the finest boarding schools in New York but cant manage to stay in them. At first, he went Elkton Hills he didnt like it there because he thought phonies surrounded him. Then, he went Whooton and he failed out. Now he is at Peace, he tries to get along with his roommates but Ackely thinks Holden is immature, He doesnt like Holden smoking in the dorm, and he does not like Holden's friends. The Dean comes tell Holden he has been giving the ax and hes sending the papers to his mother on Wednesday.
Holden has failed every subject except English. That Friday night he caught a train back to New York and he planned to stay in a cheap motel Until his mom receives the letter from the Dean. When he was in the motel he was bored and not tired so he goes down to the Lavender room He just sat back, listen to the music and drank coke because he couldnt buy no liquor. He went back up to his room and called Sallyto make a date with her on Saturday to go see the Lunts and movie. Sally met him at the theater then after the movie, they went see the Lunts play. Holden took her to a bar and then they started arguing, and he said something to offend her.
He sat in the bar for a long time after she left. Sunday he went home to see his sister Phoebe without his parents knowing. Monday he met his sister at the museum told her, his plan to go west and become a catcher in the rye. She doesnt want him to go. He takes her to the zoo and he changes his mind and goes home.
