The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in the year of 1776. It was signed on the date of July 4 th, 1776. This document was written under great circumstances. The main reasons that this was written was because the men and women of the colonies were upset with King George the third. King George the third was trying to rob the colonist of their three greatest possessions in the New England.

Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for themselves in the New World. This social contract was written to maintain order in the colonies, and to state that all men were and are created equal. It also initialed that mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the situation. This meaning that the new colonies should claim their rights that are theirs makes their own laws and make there own government. The colonist wanted to separate from England because they wanted rights. They were afraid that England was going to take away all their rights.

In this document Jefferson offers many rights to the new Americans. One of the major ideas that Jefferson address in the declaration is that all men is created equal. He also added that it is the right for the colonists to abolish the rule and power that England had over them and institute and newly formed government on their standards. The Declaration of Independence also stated that the present relationship of King George the 3 rd should become history because of all the misdeeds that he had handed upon them. King George the 3 rd had many misdeeds against the colonist that violated their rights of life, liberty, or on the pursuit of happiness. Five big misdeeds that the King made were as follows: 1.

He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. (this meaning that the King would not lift his laws that he had set for the new colonies, to pursue the miserable lifestyle that he wanted to give the colonies) 2. He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness, his invasions on the rights of the people. (this statement meaning that every time that the colonies tried to put some kind of house of representatives together that King found out about, he would shut them down. He would not let the new colonies have their own government) 3. He was endeavored to prevent the population of these states; for that purpose obstructing the laws for naturalization of foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migration hither, and raising the conditions of new appropriations.
