In many works of literature, a character reaches a major point in his or her life. From that point onward, the character undergoes a significant change. Biff is a character who starts off in a specific way and in the end is so unlike what he was before. In the beginning of Biff s life he was always portrayed as the breadwinner of the family. Willy was always saying, your going to make money, your well liked and attractive, and Biff always took that for granted. He got everything he ever wanted, without actually have to work hard for anything, first with the girls: The girls pay for you?

His father was his ro-model, the man who basically gave him all his confidence. When Biff saw the real side of his father, his confidence and hope left. Willy I remember, he flunked math Biff got angry and he was ready to enroll in summer school but he d gone up to New England to visit you and when he came back he burned his sneakers with University of Virginia on them. Symbolically, by burning his sneakers it showed that he was giving up all that he had wanted, and all that his father wanted of him.
No longer in high school and no longer popular Biff strove to make things work in his life, yet nothing he seemed to do would make it work. All the jobs that he had in his life, he always abused them to the point that he was fired or soon to be fired. You know why I had no address for three months? In the beginning when he was a young, I thought, well, a young man, it s good for him to tramp around, take a lot of different jobs. But it s more than ten years now and he has yet to make thirty-five dollars a week! Biff seemed to come to a point in which he unsure of everything in his life.
He does not know what he want now, let alone in his future. When he wants to do something, it seems as if he puts his mind to that task, yet when the time comes he realizes that he doesn t want what he is doing but something else. He seems to strive and strive to make himself happy, yet something is holding him back. I don t know what the future is, I don t know-what I m suppose to want.
I spent six years after high school trying to work myself up To suffer fifty weeks of the year for the sake of a two-week vacation and always to have to get ahead of the next fella. What should a person who had everything he had ever wanted want now? Biff knew he couldn t go back and change the past, yet he didn t even know what to do with his future. This affected Wily and everything Wily dreamed his son would be.
The major turning point in the book is when Biff finally found himself. Today I finally realized something about myself I m a bum I could never get anywhere because you blew me so full of hot air that I could never stand taking orders from anybody I m a dime a dozen and so are you I m not bringing home any prizes any more and you re going to stop waiting for me to bring them home. I was at this moment that Biff found who he was, the total essence of what made him the man he turned out to be. It was no one s fault that a man was so proud of his son that he wanted the world to know about him, yet it was not good for that son when he couldn t live up to his father s expectations. Biff couldn t get far in life because of his father s encouragement on his bad behavior (Where d you get that new ball? I borrowed it from the locker; {Willy laughing with him at the theft}), he could not get anywhere in life because of his cheating, and his tendency to think that he was better than everyone else was.
Life had turned its back on Biff Loan, yet he was reborn again. He saw his mistakes for what they really were, but for him to truly move on he had to make his father see them also, mainly because his father was the person who started them. In conclusion, now that Wily is dead Biff can actually be someone who will make a difference. It seems as if Wily was the one who sucked the life out of Biff and tried to make him someone he wasn t all because he was chasing after ghostly dreams. Biff found himself, so he can be the man he always wanted to be.
