Chapter 7 marks the beginning of the climax chapters. Bernard and Lenina walk into the Savage Reservation and are disgusted by the dirtiness and filth that surrounds them. The differences between their Utopia and the Reservation amaze them. But cleanliness is next to fordliness, she insisted.

He says his name is John, and after Bernard and Lenina talk to him for awhile they discover that he is the son of a woman originally from the Utopia who had become accidentally pregnant. The woman was the one that the Director of the Hatchery had left behind so many years before. They also discovered that the woman was still alive.

John talks Bernard and Lenina into going to see his mother, Linda. Meanwhile, John has fallen in love with Lenina. At the first site of her he was awestruck and gaped in wonder, for he had never seen a girl that was not an Indian before. When they arrived, Bernard took one look at Linda and walked out. He is curious about John and his way of life.

When Lenina gets her first look at Linda she is horrified. Linda is dirty, fat, and wrinkled; the opposite of what Lenina is conditioned to see. When Linda sees Lenina and her fine clothes she gets very excited, and starts blabbering about how glad she is to see a civilized face and civilized clothes. She then tells about the horrors of her giving birth, So theyre having children all the timeline dogs.

He also tells of how he was treated as an outsider, all of the other boys called Linda different names and were constantly pointing fingers at him. The more the boys pointed, the more John would turn to reading as an escape route.

This is the chapter where John tells about receiving his beloved Shakespeare book. Because of Johns differences from the rest of the Indian boys, he was not included in any of the Indian rituals, and as a way to fit in he does them on his own. As John tells of his loneliness, Bernard compares his life and feels similar. Bernard then decides to take John and Linda back to London with him. John loves the idea, and shows his excitement by quoting Shakespeare. Bernard tells John to hold off his excitement until he actually sees the Brave New World.

Chapter 9 As soon as Lenina returns to the rest-cabin, after experiencing the horrors of the Reservation, she feels herself entitled to a soma holiday. She takes six half-gramme tablets and embarks on an 18 hour vacation. Meanwhile, Bernard lays in the dark developing a plan. The next morning Bernard takes a helicopter in to Sante Fe and puts in a call to Mustapha Mond. Mond is extremely interested in John, and orders Bernard to bring him to London. While Lenina is sleeping John sneaks into the rest-cabin and goes through her suitcase.

He goes through all of her clothes, delighted that they belong to her and that he gets to touch them. Her perfume entrances him until he hears a noise behind him. When he goes to investigate he finds Lenina asleep, and he sees her as being so trusting in her sleep that tears come to his eyes. He is so enchanted with her that he quotes Romeo and Juliet.

During this time his thoughts are not entirely pure. He realizes that all he would have to do is take the zipper at Lenina's neck and give one pull He hates himself for even thinking this impure, detestable thought. Suddenly John hears a buzzing in the air and he realizes that Bernard has returned. He runs outside quickly and goes to meet the helicopter. Chapter 10 In this chapter, Bernard and Lenina return to London with John and Linda. John and Linda are finally taken into the world that they have dreamed of for so long.

The Director has planned to make an announcement about his plans to send Bernard to Iceland. He wants to make it a public announcement in order to humiliate Bernard and discourage anyone else from going against the ways of society. The Director has no idea what Bernard has in store for him. When Bernard hears what the Director plans, he brings in John and Linda. Linda sees the Director and tries to show her affection of him. But when the Director sees Linda, all he sees is a fat, ugly, old woman and he is disgusted.

When she sees his reaction, she breaks down and proclaims the fact that he made her become pregnant. This causes quite a stir in the rest of the people in attendance. They are filled with horror and amusement at the idea that the Director is a father. For them, the horror has only begun. Next John comes in, falls on his knees in front of the Director and says, Father!

This upsets the rest of the crowd so much that they knock over test tubes because they are laughing so hard at the Director. The Director is so humiliated that he covers his ears and runs out of the room.
