Current Satire Satire defined is A composition in verse or prose holding up a vice or folly to ridicule or lampooning individuals The use of ridicule, irony, sarcasm, etc, in speech or writing for the ostensible purpose of exposing and discourage vice or folly (Johnston). In other words, satire is the use of humor to expose moral behavior of man. In the Aristophanes play The Birds, satire is used to mock the common Greeks dream of ruling the gods that they worship. It mocks the power that they seek to become the supreme ruler of the world. To understand Aristophanes use of satire, one must first understand the role satire plays in sending out its message. At the basis of satire is a sense of moral outrage.
This outrage is wrong and needs to be exposed. The goal of a satire is to correct this misconduct of man in a humorous way that makes the audience relate to the problem and try to correct it. Satire seeks to use laughter, not just to remind us of our common often ridiculous humanity, but rather to expose those moral excesses, those correctable sorts of behavior which transgress what the writer sees as the limits of acceptable moral behavior (Johnston). In exposing these foibles, one could discover not to behave in such a manner by realizing his or her mistakes.
With all of the problems in todays society, it is great to know that we have one great thing going for us. That would be the talented men and women of our government. The powerful president, senators, congressmen, governors, mayors, and other politicians work together to keep this country its very best. They help keep the people of this country united. The first politician I would like to compliment would be the new and current president of the United States, George W.
Bush. This man is following in the footsteps of greatness, following his own fathers presidency just fifteen years ago. Mr. George W.
Bush know what family is. He is heroically follows up his father achievements and failures having in mind the sweet smell of the Iraqi oil. He is worth of praise! Also who may give a guaranty that Sept 11 was not an action undertaken to change a social meaning in some way? I will not rescue to do that. Nevertheless, one big decision that he had made was that all of his public addresses would be done in both English and Spanish.
I think this is a great idea and maybe next he will ask illegal immigrants to start voting. So the successor of Gorge W. Bush is going to be the man from Costa Rika or Nicaragua because nothing may be done in Bush's family without strict aim in mind as in other ordinary families of US. I think it should be wormer in the Texas and Montana because of his successors hot blood when he will run for the presidency.
The second great politician that I would like to point out as being a great leader would be the former president, Bill Clinton. The scandal around Bills new love has been the hottest topic of current satire for a long time throughout the world and a lot of cartoons on Bill Clinton and his large family may be found on Confederate Flag. Personally I have been expressed mostly by cartoons taken from Switzer Basler Zeitung and Coco China Times newspapers. On the first picture we could see the line of political lobbing and oppression came from American society to civilians (suppose to be both American and Iraqi). Bill Clinton and Saddam look like victims of social oppression. Both of them had a threat under their heads on the second picture.
Bill had his love story (the possibility of impeachment) and Saddam had the war threat at the same time. Two persons just sit in the deep wholes and have some conversation having two bombs under their heads. Clintons bomb is impeachment and Hussein's bomb is bombing. I think that the core idea of the cartoon is to show unwillingness of two presidents to enter into war action and to define pressure on both of them.
Also Bill Clinton was the perfect leader for this country; he sympathized with the everyday working man. He understood the value of having a wife. He benefited from this not only for himself, but also for the benefit of the country. How many politicians would put aside their own morals for the better of a whole country? He has had a perfect humor. As an example, he just joked when said about Monica not giving the blow job to Mr.
President. It was really nice joke that gave me a sense of good humor for all the day. The excellent cartoon may be found on Confederate Flag again where in president caution addressed to nation he says: After all these sexual scandal hoopla, I have decided to come clean and do the right thing, Im going to dump Hillary and devote myself to my true love, Monica.
