Does The Real World Exist? The idea of existence or absence of real world is pretty much individual and differs from one person to another. Actually, it is somewhat like to the idea of right and wrong what is right for one person is bad for someone else and vice versa. What is real world for one person is another reality for another.

In a word, real world is a very abstract and unclear thing in fact, it is a reflection of a certain world which surrounds all the people with the eyes of an individual. It is easy to prove it taking any group of people as an example. Musicians take it for granted that real world consists of sounds, painters would argue, keeping strong to their idea that it consists of colors and objects, a religious believer considers that real world is everything created by god, while heaven and hell are the alternative reality, a physician may prove that real world is nothing more than a great crowd of molecules. This list is a far not complete one. I am firmly convinced that every person has his or her own vision of real world and this vision is correct by all means.

The fact is that people have no right and arguments to dispute over this question. If people accept that when they die they go to another world, this world is different only in relation to the world they exist in now when or if they get into an alternative world they will perhaps be quite sure that this very world is real and their earth life is fictitious. Who knows, may be the real worlds form a chain or something else and follow each other in some sequence? Perhaps, people just move throughout their existence from one world to another without knowing that and taking every new world as it comes.

This situation is similar to that with people who are easy to be convinced they listen to other people talking, try to understand their idea and finally accept this idea and consider it is right. Perhaps, the same thing happens when people change worlds they become really sure that the world they are in is reality, but actually this reality is very temporal it can change to another one in a few years, days or even seconds. In fact, peoples life turns into the search for real reality. The idea that people constantly change realities is actually a very abstract one and is difficult or impossible to prove. Actually, any idea or theory about whether real world exists is just an abstraction, but each theory has sense.

For example, Rene Descartes theory about the existence of real world is based upon skepticism. He said: I will doubt everything that can possibly be doubted and if anything is left, and then it will be absolutely certain. His doubting methodology consists of two parts: The dream conjecture the idea that one can never be sure in what they see because the whole world around can be a mere dream. "For all I know, I might now be dreaming. " The evil demon conjecture the simple propositions a person gets throughout their lifetime are true, but others are not, so perhaps the simple ones will some time turn out to be fake as well. For all I know, some evil demon had devoted himself to deceiving me at every turn so that I regard its true / certain propositions that are in fact false. All in all, these conjectures state the fact (however, calling it a fact is not really good we can never be certain whether it is a fact or not) one can never be certain about anything. In fact, one can never be certain that he is certain.

However, Rene Descartes said, he is certain about one thing: I think, therefore I am. He considered so, because if one doubts someones existence, it means that they already think, therefore, they exist. Rene Descartes reality consists of these elements: God, Mind and Matter. He clearly differentiates at that mind and body. Both of them have their characteristics minds main one is thinking, while bodys is extension. Mind cant be extended, as well as body can not think.

Descartes considered physical world a simple one he believed in God and used to say that God is the only substance as far as he is independent: "All other things can exist only by the help of the concourse of God. " The thing is that according to this theory, God is also the only creative substance he created everything and he is in the right of ruining it all. The whole entity of Gods activity accounts for mind in combination with the body. So, we can say that Descartes theory is theocentric God is the centre of his Universe, the main element in his real world or reality. In fact, Descartes thought that reality is God and what God wills.

I would say that theocentric in this theory makes it a little too narrow. I mean that any centrism is a sign of narrowness. I dont think I dare to criticize this theory, but I think that any problem should be viewed from various sides not just one. It is always good to doubt.

There are a lot of people who doubt Gods existence, so they think thinking is being. Being doesnt mean being created or is not supposed to mean this it just might mean this. Unlike Descartes, John Locke considers that mind and body constantly interact; therefore any action is a result of their interaction. He thinks that the soul changes from time to time the changes that happen to it are reflected in the physical world, so that is how people take the real world through the effects the outer reality has on their physical appearance. However, here we come to the point where Locke's and Descartes are alike Locke says that this point is as much doubtful as the existence of the soul or the nature of human bodies. So, Locke, as well as Descartes adopts skepticism that is he doubts.

He says: Our knowledge of bodies outside is not certain knowledge; the secondary qualities which we perceive do no represent the reality of things. He also considers that reality is not confined to what we experience empirically. It means that people can live in a kind of a Matrix the whole real world of experience and knowledge may turn out to be a fairy-tale, like the story about Santa Claus, in which children believe until they grow up or get to know that he does not exist. This is a very simple example but the situation here is very similar to living in a real world one believes it is real, does everything he can to survive in this world (behaves well to receive presents for Christmas), in a while one finds himself having bad habits, does bad to people, is greedy or scum (the child gets to know that in his real world there is no Santa he has no greater reason to behave well). So, there is a force which accidentally or on purpose makes people believe that this or that statement is true, but later on when he or she has a better look or an insight, they understand that perhaps they were fooled. In contrast to Rene Descartes and John Locke, David Hume considers that there is no real world.

In fact, he accepted Bishop Berkleys point of view that no one can prove that there is a world which is beyond our perceptions. He also fully disagrees with Rene Descartes view of the real world, concerning its consistency of god, mind and matter. He says: All ideas are copies of impressions... it is impossible for us to think of anything which we have not antecedent felt by our senses... , For my part, when I enter most intimately into what I call my self, I always stumble on some particular perception or other, of heat or cold, light or shade, love or hatred, pain or pleasure, color or sound, etc. I never catch my self, distinct from some such perception. In addition, he states his opinion as follows: In all reasonings from experience, then, there is a step taken by the mind (that the future resembles the past) which is not supported by any argument.

Nevertheless, we take this step. There must therefore be some other principle (than rational or demonstrative argument). This principle is custom... What, then, is the conclusion of the whole matter? A simple one, though, it must be confessed, pretty remote from the common theories of philosophy. All belief concerning matters of fact or real existence is derived merely from some object present to the memory or the senses, and a customary conjunction between that and some other object.

Having found, in many instances, that two kinds of objects have been conjoined (say, flame and heat), the mind is carried by custom to expect the same in the future. This is the whole operation of the mind in all our conclusions concerning matters of fact and existence. As to Bishop Berkeley's conception, he tries to clearly define the term of something real: he says, there is no other choice, but only link it to human minds. If real means anything at all, it can only mean some sort of construction of ideas. And once we realize that we must define reality as we must define everything else, namely in terms of our ideas, then we realize that we cant make sense of reality existing independently of our ideas. To posit that there might be a reality independent of our ideas would be to posit that there might be something that existed even though none of the things we use to define it All in all, the points of view on this question are very different and abstract.

In fact, no one can truly tell whether real world exists or not and what it is if it exists. The point here is that people have a lot of connections with alternative worlds other worlds, which are different in all aspects, form their earth life. In this respect it is reasonable to mention some events which come out pf the borders of human perception. People often predict events, meet or receive a call from people they hadnt seen for ages, come to completely new place, but have the feeling that they had already seen this place, or done this, human dreams and many-many other things. Such cases are examples of our connection with something unusual, some kind of a sign language, which helps us to find our way.

Actually, this may not be a wise idea. In fact, any idea may turn out not to be wise. People trust in God, without having direct evidence of his existence. However, no one can prove that there is no God. And no one can deny that miracles exist.

And no one can say that miracles were not created by god. In a word, the question is very complicated and puzzled. In addition, it is impossible to solve the problem for now. If real world exists, than there should be an unreal world.

But those, who see the unreal world never come back and tell about their experience. Perhaps, someday sometime people will learn how to move from one reality to another and that day will become the day of anti reflection people will get a new doze of knowledge and move further in their mental development.
