RESIDENCY PROGRAM FOR NYU COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY The rate of change experienced by the dental health care industry is unprecedented. There has been, in fact, a complete evolution of the American health care delivery system. Driven by economic and social change, both the structure and power base of the health care system have changed. Our general practice residency provides a broad range of experience dealing with the dental patient in both a clinical and didactic sense. For me, a good career option in line with my goals in life is to be able to help the community about their health and healing -- how to recover from infections, diseases, and other factors causing health failures.
I want to educate people and be a direct partner in mitigating health disasters. Interacting with patients and participating in health care decisions has the ultimate effect of improving the quality of life of others, giving them more time to spend with love ones. I choose Dentistry knowing it would fulfill my need to be independent and in touch with the community. It would also allow me to use my scientific knowledge for the benefit of others. Thus, when I learned that the NYU College of Dentistry provides students with a solid grounding in the philosophy of education, people development, and the dynamics of teaching, research and management, I was completely floored. The College adequately prepares its students with a broad range of experience dealing with the dental patient in both a clinical and didactic sense.
Thus, it will surely give me the opportunity to apply learning through various educative experiences within school, health care centers and other public and private health institutions. The programs are varied and carve out for me a career path and profession as a professional dentist equipped with a strong background on the subject. It would be good to focus my energies on this as I, myself, am cognizant of the importance of health subject to people living in the world today, exposed to all the modern technology which, unfortunately, may decrease ones quality of life. I am sure that my experience here will provide graduate residents with the confidence and experience necessary to comprehensively treat a diverse patient population.
