Love Within the Bible Christianity is represented through Bible as a belief where God is seen as a God of love. God gave away His Son, His Son gave away his life, and they together sent the Holy Spirit to rescue the sinners in order to help them reach happiness and peace. Practically, throughout the Bible God represents an example of loving by giving. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3: 16). Simultaneously, God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5: 8). Belief in this omnipotent power of Gods love results with love to Him and to the other people around, which are the two great precepts of Jesus Christ. (Matthew 22: 35 40).

From the critical point of view, one sees the examples of unconditional love throughout the Bible. Unconditional love constitutes one of the most important topics in the Bible. All His life Jesus was teaching different people, some of them became his disciples. When the last day came, He tried to say what he really meant by all the words He said before. What He meant was to love one another. Through all his life Jesus gave people the only commandment.

He called it the new, another one, but he gave no others. A new command I will give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13: 34, 35). During His last day with the disciples Jesus kept repeating that love is the way to happiness, to joy, to comfort, and, finally, to God: nothing is as important as unconditional love.

When people loose everything, they still have a chance to love. Therefore, if one experiences unconditional love and does all the loving things to the others, one will eventually achieve the unity with God, purification and spiritual happiness. In a word, loving God and loving everything he made leads to happy life and feeling of God, Jesus and Holy Spirit inside (Whealon, 115). Unconditional love is the love within.

Nothing can separate people from the love of God. People are all connected; this love is in every single being, in every human. God is always with people and in people. Anyone who says I love God, but hates his brother, is a liar. For whoever who does not love the brother whom he can see, can not love God whom he has not seen (1 John 4: 20). Being together means loving.

Being together with God and Jesus means loving them. In order to love Them, people need to know Them; in order to know Them, we need to feel them inside. As we are all alive conscious beings that are connected to God through Jesus we surely have to feel benefits of this unity. The main one is the feeling of being loved and loving someone.

The one cannot be happy if there is no love in his life. However, we always feel the ones we love. If a person has unconditional love inside of him, he will love everybody and everything because that feeling comes from God. Love is the thing that is a part of spiritual existence, of the total consciousness; it cannot be separated. As God loved His son Jesus, He was in him. As Jesus loved Father, He was inside of God too.

As Jesus loved the disciples, He was in them, and they, loving their teacher, were in Him. In John 14: 21 Jesus tells that those who will love Him will be loved by His father; and those He will love and show himself to them. By showing himself, Jesus lets people to know Him. Therefore, knowing means loving.

Only through loving can humans get to know Jesus and God the Father. If people will love God and Jesus, they will come inside of them and humans will feel their presence all the time... God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him (1 John 4: 16). As mentioned above, the Bible has numerous references to love; it mentions it quite frequently and uses it in different senses.

Most of the disciples explain their own point of view concerning the concept of love. However, one of the best and most full descriptions of love is represented by Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians. For Paul, love constitutes one of the most dynamic terms used to describe the holy life that results from the sense or feeling of the Holy Spirit inside. According to Pauls writings, the love motivates and explains peoples actions. Love is referred to as an attribute of a mature Christian person. 1 st Corinthians 13: 4 - 8 describe the Christian love in terms of individual love and love towards surrounding people. The Love Chapter explains that the one should ignore all the personal interests, and instead an individual should seek a blessing for another one and that would be a sign of love to that person.

Moreover, that love is going to be measured by the results it reached. Paul says that love is not a feeling inside which used to be seen in modern life on the emotional level; on the contrary, it is a principle of action, movements towards the goodness of the other people (Boyd, 39). It can be considered in terms of working hard for other people because of the inner sense, and feeling of compassion to their needs. Loving obtains its helping peculiarity if people accept that help or refuse to take it. By personifying love, Paul tells how the loving ones should act.

It is also clearly seen that by describing love, the disciple reveals to the audience about Jesus actions and his ultimate mission, since the latter is considered to be a perfect example of love. According to the 1 st Corinthians, love is patient, kind, not proud, not jealous, not rude, not selfish, and not irritable. Love is trusting; a loving person cannot get satisfaction from evil or lie; love remembers only good, but not wrongs. Critically, the person who love does not concentrate his attention on evil, which others may bring him; instead, one does not even plan evil himself.

Love is eternal: never tired, never lacks patience, never looses hope, and never forgets faith (1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 8). Love is everywhere and everything. According to Pauls beliefs everything may pass: inspired messages, knowledge, and everything that does not have any value without love. Without love all the languages become simply an empty sound; good things become useless; prophecy, secrets, beliefs and different knowledge are left without any sense. And if I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and if I should deliver my body to be burned, but I have no charity (love), it profits me nothing (1 Corinthians 13: 3). Love is more than knowledge, that can easily evaporate, or languages that will one day become silent or prophesy that will end.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these if love (1 Corinthians 13: 13). Bibliography: John Francis Whealon.
