Peace and Conflict Resolution in Southeast Asia When it comes to conflict management in all the regions of the world, we better remember that even inadequate prevention of such conflicts will do more good than the most effective ways of dealing with them after they actually take place. There are many indications, which show that there is a high potential for ethical conflict to break out in every particular area. What has to be taken into account is percentage of populations homogeneity: the more ethnically homogeneous society is - the less there are chances of ethnically based conflicts occurring within this society. Western societies are getting more multiculturised and diversified, thus also becoming more susceptible to ethical conflicts in the future. In countries of Southeast Asia situation is a bit different local governments are actually trying to keep their nations as homogenous as possible. The smartest way to deal with ethical conflicts is to never letting it occur in the first place. Yet, once situation gets out of control, there can be no effective measure taken to deal with it but military one. If government is committed to use military force to end ethical conflicts, it has to be done quickly and resourcefully. For example, there are UN troops are posted in different regions of the world, yet as practice shows, they can never be too effective while dealing with ethnic violence. That is because their actions are limited by various international rules and regulations. I personally think that ethical conflicts occur spontaneously and they should be resolved naturally. Human life worth much less there than in Western countries and this has to be kept in mind by UN policies makers, who use universal approach in dealing with ethical conflicts around the world.
