Different cultures Outline Introduction Let me start my speach from asking you all guys what is culture? And let me give my answer to this question. Well, the definition of culture can be the development by special training or care the skills, arts, Ect. of a given people in a given period. But what is ti indeed? I belive that though it is not a physical thing that you can touch, smell or feel, people do indeed adopt it from others through years, from generation to generation.
Due to huge technological progress nowadays people are able to change his / her appearance and even the color of skin. A person can learn how to speak perfectly this or that language and move to another country to live. But he / she would never get rid of the cultural heritage whether he / she likes it or not. It is something that every person has in his blood. There is no doubt that various languages and cultures play significant roles in human civilization.
And what a pity people are still influenced by the cultural difference in their everyday life. 2. Theses of the paper My strong believe is that more people should be tolerant to other cultures, people and their social and religious habits. We should be open minded and not to prejudge other nations and people who are different than we. It is very important for people to be hostile and friendly to other nations and people who have different cultural heritage. 3.
Body Let me take as an example two very close and indeed very different parts of the world: the America and Latin America. These two countries vary greatly in their way of life, people and their habits. And though the two parts exist very close to each other people are treated very differently. One of the main differences between the two cultures is the language. In Latin America the main language spoken is Spanish, while in America the main language spoken is English. In the many Latin American countries there have been changes made to the language but it is still considered Spanish.
America is brought together by so many different countries and languages that they had to pick one language so everyone could talk to one another. I am saying all these in order to show that there some similarities between the way of life in America and Latin countries but still Americans and Latin people are treated very differently. Why is this? Wht do people believe that people from Mexico ot Brasil or somewhere else are lower than Americans? Why there is a great division for first and third countries in this world? Yes, there are and will always be many differences between the two cultures of America and Latin America.
But they will always be connected through the people coming from Latin America who will try and combine the two cultures into one culture. I believe, there will be some things that do combine the two like the "Spanglish" and some of the foods but the two cultures will always be different in their own ways. And we need to make these things live in peoples hearts. People around should feel and understand that there is no division for good nations or bad nations, for good language or bad language, for right religion or wrong religion. How can we put all people who belong to one nation under the same judgement? Just take a great example with all the terraces going in the world now.
People start to believe now that muslims are responsible for all the bad things happening in various parts of the world. We can not and must not tag all muslims terrorists or cruel and dangerous people. Initially, there no peace in the modern world now. There are wars, terraces and fights somewhere in the world. During the wars, some small races might disappear as well as their languages and cultures.
I believe that there is a sufficient decrease in the diversity of languages and cultures nowadays. Moreover people dont want to know about other cultures a lot and stay ignorant to other people. I believe that the disappearance of languages and cultures are unavoidable outcomes of the social progress. I need to say that some cultures are believe to be superstitious. The old generation may believe them. However, the young generation is educated.
They might think the cultures are superstitious and ridiculous. They would feel ashamed of them and then try to forget them. Apparently, the cultures that are based on superstitious belief would vanish along with the social progress. Supporting my theses I want to say that the international aids that are available almost everywhere can reach nearly every corner of the world.
They could assist the races which are kept away from the modern world and underdeveloped. With the help of mass media, internet and simply communication we should learn more about the various races and people that are kept away from the modern world When the young generation notices that, in fact, there is a new modern and well-developed world outside their isolated community, they might be curious. They would try to learn the new language and cultures to catch up with the current world. I also believe that every educational establishment should teach its students Cultural Studies. I believe that every student should be familiar with cultural, social and racial differences that appear in the university, country and the world on the whole. College life should inculcate the desire for a cultural learn and the desire to be curious to look at others cultures in order to try to understand them.
Most of the times we dont understand people who belong to other cultures. And as a matter of fact there are a lot of foreign student at colleges and universities. Every one of us might find him / herself at the same place. Cultural Studies make us less ignorant to the different aspects of lives of other nations. We look at them for a different point of view. And this of course might be very helpful in our future professional life.
I believe that knowing your own culture is almost impossible without studying other nations and their cultural differences. I believe that we, students, should be familiar with these cultural differences in order not to be ignorant towards other nations. 4. Conclusion Concluding my essay I want to say that it is hard to understand other cultures when you misunderstand your own one. It is hard to say what you would do or feel if your belonged to this or that race and had this or that cultural background. But I can say that people should remember that God created us as equal beings and we have to respect all human beings no matter what color he / she is and what cultural heritage he / she possesses. If people had he desire for a cultural learn and would be curious to look at others cultures in order to try to understand them it would be much easier to accept differences in the cultures.
