Karl Marx In this paper I want to try to explain Marx's theories about political power and human freedom. Also I want to Marx's attitude to the role of politics and the importance he places on the category of human freedom. As always I want to start my paper from the little biographical introduction. Im deeply convinced that biographical facts help to understand the theories and thoughts of the person better. Karl Marx was born in Germany, in the family of the successful lawyer.

His father sent him to the Bonn University. In the university Marx showed interest in philosophy. In the 1836 he finished his education and was proposed to become a professor. But Karl Marx was not agreed with the conservative policy of the universities authorities and he declined that position. After that incident he lost all opportunities for getting position in German universities. In 1842 Marx abandoned Germany and moved to the England where he firstly meet Frederick Engels.

Karl Marx became an important figure in history. He inspired social movements and individual revolutionaries. However many of them just misused his name and writings. Marx played different roles during his lifetime; he was a socialist prophet, a political organizer, and a social theorist.

He forecasted the eventual revolution of the working class, the destruction of capitalism, and the establishment of a stateless, socialist society. His works inspired many people o action. However, he is not responsible for the totalitarian regime that emerged. And I want to outline that he died well before the revolution in Russia. If we reject his vision of an inevitable and workable socialist society we can find a lot of value in his works.

If we take a closer look on the Marx's politics theories we can see that he directs much of his critique against the classical liberal concern for personal freedom and private property - the Rights of Man, or what Marx called "bourgeois freedom. " According to the A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy I examine the system of bourgeois economy in the following order: capital, landed property, wage-labour; the State, foreign trade, world market. Marx analyzed the economic conditions of existence of the three great classes into which bourgeois society was divided under the first three headings of his Critique of Political Economy. Marx's understanding of human freedom is rater specific, I think. According to his works people need to develop their rationality and freedom. He called them true human abilities and outlined that fulfillment founded upon the development of one's true human abilities is nothing compare to the illusory fulfillment founded on money and the sense of having (Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts) Marx created the theory that self-realization in both self and other becomes a human being's highest need. He also said that the process of human self-creation couldnt be founded upon the belief in God as the creator of a human being.

It is where his atheism theories lie. During their lives people become engaged in the specific relationships, which are not directed by their wills. Such production relationships agree with the certain degree of material and productive powers. Totality of material and productive powers forms the economic basis of society foundation on which juridical and political forces are based and which agrees with certain forms of social consciousness.

The way of production of material life forms social, political and religious process in society. Not human consciousness but human existence in society determines the consciousness. True human wealth is found not in a human being's sense of having or possessing things or money but in the development of one's humanity. The labour and only labour can lead people in to the new society.

When the labour turns into the first rate vitally important thing then the humans consciousness will revealed in all its beauty and glory. Freedom through labor, language, and social relationships gives rise to the development of true human needs calling for the fulfillment of rationality and freedom both in self and in others (William O'Marx) Bibliography William O'Marx, Marx's Atheism and the Ideal of Self-Realization, Volume 3, Number 1, Fall, 1999.
