In the simplest easy language we can explain it as exchange of information on personalized basis. Although human beings revolve with the world, but their world revolves around them. In fact even caring for and tending to and understanding the needs of a pet could factually amount to interpersonal communication of a different type, as here instead of a person, a pet is involved. What differs in interpersonal communication are the methods utilized; and brings us to the three questions what, why and how. The what interpersonal communication means has been answered to some extent above and in the following chapters we shall try to analyze the why and how factors.

Background The likely-hood of people turning into hermits and secluding themselves away from the world is very rare. At one time or another the everyone must have fantasized about the idea of being alone on a deserted island far away from this maddening world; but some fantasies remain fantasies like the above idea. Interpersonal communication encompasses some of the following methods, such as through speech, nonverbal communications, unconscious communication, summarizing, paraphrasing, listening and questioning etc. (Honors, 2001). And the turn-taking or managing of conversation or other forms of communication by altering the roles of speaker and listener or of the giver and taker for exchanging information back and forth between partners.

There has to be a psychological context by which one brings to interaction ones needs, desires, values, and personalities among other things and there also has to be a relational context which concern ones reaction to the others persons so as to develop a common mix. The situation context deals with the psycho-social factor where one communicates, and the environmental context deals with the physical factor where one communicates for example with regard to location, temperature, noise levels, time, furniture etc. And finally there is the cultural context where ones behavior is based on the knowledge one acquires from the experiences of life (Done K, 2000). Having clarified the why factor to some extent above, we shall try to now analyze the how factor herewith: Methods of Interpersonal Communication.

They are: a) who you think you are; b) who you think the other person is; c) who you think the other person thinks you are; d) who the other person thinks he or she is; e) who the other person thinks you are; and f) who the other person thinks you think he / she is. Interpersonal Communication is Contextual Communication is not possible in isolation, and there have to be the factor of psychological context, relational context, situational context, environmental context and the cultural context for effective interpersonal communication. Conclusion The main reason we involve ourselves in interpersonal communication is because of our desire to gain knowledge about other individuals and to communicate information about ourselves to them so that inter-actions becomes more effective and mutually beneficial for us. Interpersonal communication can help us predict how other people feel and think by observing them and accordingly strategize how we are to deal with them. Interpersonal communication also helps to evaluate what people say in any given context because at times, words or messages can mean different things depending on how the are interpreted and by whom.

Interpersonal communication also helps us to establish an identity for ourselves in relation to the roles we play in our relationships and the public image we present to others. However, to get things done in an efficient and effective manner we have to work together in partnerships so that we can pool our resources and get the best possible results.
