Education If I could change the way schools are run, I would stop the process of them turning into the kindergartens. Many schools drop their educational standards, in order to be in full compliance with obscure idea of celebrating diversity. As a result, many schools graduates cannot pint point U. S. on the world map.
In modern schools, children are being increasingly brainwashed, because they are expected to follow an accepted code of behavior, where ability to think independently is not encouraged. Students are no longer being taught the essence of abstract concepts, upon which our society is built. There are questions that, according to the opinion of progressive teachers, should not even be addressed, such as: what is justice? what is beauty?
what is man? what is right and what is wrong, even though that studying the essence of these concepts used to an integral element of learning process, even as recent as 20 years ago. This is because such questions might result in getting controversial answers, which would instantly undermine the validity of multiculturalism, as social theory. Therefore, I would stop the polarization of schools. Schools are the places of learning and not the experimental fields, where nonsensical social theories are being tested on students. There should be universal academic standards for all, and if some students fail, they will have to be expelled, without being able to accuse teachers of racism, as it often happens today.
It is obvious that people of different cultural backgrounds have different academic capabilities; therefore, I would suggest separate schools for minority students. Otherwise, it is only the matter of time, before our public schools will begin to operate as places where students only learn crime. Also, I would ban the practice of having classes for children with special needs, because this is nothing but a waste of valuable educational resources. And finally - I would make it mandatory for all students to attend classes of physical culture.
This is because there has to be a harmony between the health of body and mind. 50 % of American kids are overweight; therefore, it would be only beneficial for them to be chased around by bullies. Schools need to serve a purpose of raising productive members of society and not the whiners.
