Waging War on Fitness Nowadays, people are more conscious about their health and how they look like. Shape of their bodies and weight loss seems to be one of the main problems in their life. Improving their bodies, humankind has been waging a real war for healthy life. But, often in the war for strong and perfect body people lose their individuality. Though people say that a harmonic personality should have clear mind as well as strong body.

But are there many evidences that modern people with strong and healthy body have clear and kind thoughts? It is known that conditionally physical fitness can be divided into two subgroups: general fitness and task-oriented fitness. As a rule, general fitness is directed to improve physical health, such as flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength & endurance, body composition, agility, balance, and speed. Task-oriented fitness performs particular tasks, for example, fit for military service. But it is known that military-style fitness training programs have become popular among civilians, especially in U.

S. and Europe. As a rule they are taught by ex-military personnel. From the other side, training programs for improving mental and emotional health are not very popular nowadays. Such programs that are known as triangle programs represent physical, emotional, and mental fitness.

Such programs are usually used for people suffer from a mental illness or have emotional problems. It proves one more time that cruelty and force occupy the leading position in our life. Lets start with the history of fitness. It is known from world history that interest to fitness enlarged with the development of military forces. Military conflicts influenced greatly the state of fitness.

By the way, the modern fitness movement began after World War II. There are many examples of people and even nations that paid great attention to their physical strength and the beauty of their bodies. The best example is Sparta. The Spartans were greatly interested in fitness; it was a part of their culture.

It was one the most physically fit societies in the history of mankind. But the Spartans use their ability primarily for military purposes. Even Greek society that created the mind-body concept uses its power in wars and games. According the concept, a sound mind can only be found in a healthy body.

They trained their bodies and killed one another in wars or in games. Physical fitness has strong association with military and political superiority. So, it goes without saying, that though fitness has great positive effect improving ones health and body; but it also can become a reason of cruelty and militancy. People have to follow regular physical activity, proper diet and nutrition. They become more disciplined; but at the same, time they feel themselves superior and act aggressively. It is known that people who live a calm life are kinder and more tolerant.

They prefer walking in fresh air to spending hours in prestigious fitness clubs. Modern people face a lot of problems every day. There are barriers that prevent people from regular exercises such as time, boredom, injuries, and self-confidence. People have to overcome these barriers and hurry up to do a lot of things. Physical exercises help them to forget about problems but at the same time, sticking to a schedule, people have to live a vain life. To reach success, people have to exercise regularly, buy fancy exercise equipment or join a health club.

Sometimes, they have no time to have a talk with their friends or enjoy other sides of life. Those who do not do physical training have more free time. The main problem of the present century is time. Our life is so full with events that we have no time to stand and stare. People prefer indoor training to outdoors. Modern fitness equipment has been created for motivating to exercise.

There are a lot of computerized programs for indoor activities. Manufacturers supply a great number exercises for fun; and the amount of members who attend fitness clubs is increasing constantly. Though virtual reality equipment propose a more positive and motivating exercise experience, but it cannot replace walking in pleasant surroundings, such as in a park or in the countryside. Most of all, virtual reality equipment can damage persons health. Our modern life is impossible without computers. We work computers; we have a rest, playing computer games.

After a hard working day, sitting in front of a screen, we go to a fitness club and exercise in front of another screen. So, while our body trains, our mind works. It is evident, that virtual reality equipment affected eyesight and mind. Most of all people feel themselves happier and energetic getting the benefit of fresh air and sunshine than training in artificial environment. It should be pointed that sometimes pursuing greater results in improving your body, a person can become more anxious, depressed, angry and hostile. Often fitness trainers state that fitness is very useful for our health.

But lets examine some facts and think about cons and pros of fitness. From the first time a person attends any fitness club, his or her blood pressure, height and weight, body mass index, body fat, grip strength, abdominal strength, step test, and flexibility should be measured, interpreted and recorded. It proves that physical exercises effect all your body; and can be positive and negative. Thats why it is very important to register new data every time. Most of all, exercise changes the way your blood is distributed to your body. Some organs such as digestive tract, liver, and kidneys get less blood; others (exercising muscles, skin, and heart) get more blood.

A regular exercise program effects ones health greatly. It leads to certain changes in ones body. So, there is always a risk that intensive training programs will cause negative after-effects. In summary, it is necessary to sometimes it will be better to have a calm clear mind and brilliant concentration than perfect body. A person should work as much for his or her mind as for the body.
