Another odd but strange idea of Christianity is the idea of salvation. There was a major discrepancy with idea of salvation based and Paul, and what was written in the Dead Sea Scroll. In the scrolls they say that through faith in the teacher of righteousness and the doings of laws constitutes the way of salvation. Pauls interpretation on salvation was that justification was by faith alone, good work will result in salvation. This puzzlement intrigues our mind about what the true belief of salvation.

However, where there are discrepancies there are similarities. Both the Dead Sea Scrolls and Paul say salvation means not any forgiveness and cleansing from sin, but also participation in a spiritual fellowship. The origins of Christianity, Drives says, the account of the beginnings of the church is not simple; it is full of problems. And it is not certain that Jesus founded-or intended to found-the eventual Christian church.

To fully understand this comment you must understand what the scrolls say about the origins. John the Baptist was believed to be an Essene. He baptized Jesus and was also his uncle. He was known as the teacher of righteousness in the Dead Sea scrolls, and is believed to have started the whole beginnings of the Christian movement, as we know it.

When he established this movement he broke way from the Essene community and started his own sect. The characteristics of the teacher of Righteousness are most similar to those of John the Baptist. They both felt differently about their way of life and wanted a new one that was radical and different. However his nephew (Jesus) felt the same way as he did, but the only difference was that he wanted to run the new way differently. In the scrolls Jesus is believed to be the man of lie. The man of lie share similar characteristics with Jesus.

They both were convicted and put to death, proclaimed judgment of Jerusalem, and they both established communities that said he would return and judge the world. People left John because they felt Jesus had a better way to run the sect, and form there scientists believe that the origins of Christianity sprouted causing a major impact on the world as we know it. When the Bedouin boy discovered the Dead Sea Scrolls, it was nothing more than a piece of paper to him. After careful translation, the various fragments were pieced back together revealing new interpretations of the Christian Bible. Although similarities were found, it was the differences that most intrigued biblical scholars. They have known for a long time that the traditional view of Christian Origins is not supported by history so much as by theology.

The Sadducean priesthood and the Essenes simply disappeared as if they had never existed. All literature that did not reflect the Jamaica party line was destroyed or abolished. This included the exotic Septuagint version of the scriptures. The oral tradition was codified in writing and became an essential part of a new document in Jewish literature called the Talmud. As we have already mentioned, what makes the Qumran documents so important to us is that it consists of pre-Jamnian material.

It presents us with a picture of Judaism as it existed at, and before the days of Christ. From this material and using historical information, scholars have been able to reconstruct a picture of Judea in the messianic age that is far more dimensional than that stemming from the monolithic voice that arose a century later. The question of whether or not the community of Qumran or the scrolls found in the caves there were products of the Essenes is a topic of debate. The similarities between the two are striking and the weight of scholarship leans heavily to the idea that they are one and the same. But for most Christians, the scrolls at Qumran are living proof that the scriptures we have today stem from documents that have changed little, if at all, over two thousand years of copying and recopying by numberless unknown scribes. The 'Isaiah Scroll' which comes from Qumran and is displayed in its entirety at the very center of the The Israel Museum in Jerusalem is at least 100 years older than Jesus.

Its very age absolute proof that Isaiah's words of prophecy ring out a truth that Christians could not possibly have made up, or altered, during the course of their ministry.
