that maxim which you can at the same time will to a universal law. In other words an act that should be followed only if people will follow it. If you jumped off a bridge, think if everyone would do the same and it would become socially accepted. It states an interesting point if you think many of todays and the past legislature was in fact developed this way. Toss the people an idea and see if they follow it through time changing it to better accommodate the people and the views at the time. The bible was established based on the Ten Commandments a bunch of thoughts on how life should be lived by a form of rule structure in plain view.

The people took on these rules and passed them on to eventually adapt to what's right. So when deciding most decisions one would think if the world would follow and if it would form into a solid ethic. The problem is every social structure from New Jersey to California from South America to Africa runs on a very different structure. Therefore, who is to say witch groups methods are the right ones to do. In Japan, it is customary to take off one's shoes when eating and in India the cow is sacred. Rules are developed differently as wide of a range as through a country or perhaps a county or even as small as a town.

So how do you differentiate everyone's actions to dissect and arrive to the final answer of what is right. In addition, this rule does not seem to focus on what is right at all but what is socially accepted. In world war two, it was accepted to ridicule Jews everyone around you did it but did it make it right. It follows the rule to do what you think everyone around would do.

So there are flaws within the rule that if one would follow it could lead to disaster depending on who exactly you are modeling after. One thing human's do from birth is follow or model after others. Whether it is your favorite cartoon character when you were little to imitating the genuine class of your favorite musician. It is whom we follow that makes us who we are we piece by piece as time develops so does or decision-making process.

To one day, create the image of who you truly are. This also contradicts free will the fact that we need to make choices on our own beliefs not ones followed. Free will is something taken for granted or ancestors behind us fought battles over a thing as simple as free will. To be able to act on your own regard with you and your loved ones on mind instead of a king's opinion that does not even know of your existence. So there, stating a theory that does not express free will one main reason I am against this idea because without freedom there is no appreciation for the small things that matter.

You simply live life as a mindless drone incapable to make the simple decision of what to eat for dinner. Furthermore, there is no way to reveal what is moral and what is not under this theory. According to the text to decipher what is moral if it would be willed into universal law it's moral if not unmoral. In addition, what is moral if the duty to be acted on if and only if the opposite cannot be universal? With that statement, there is no way to figure out what is right and wrong using that rule. Like before stated even if everyone is doing something does not mean it's morally right.

Some countries promote communism others democracy or a republic whose to say what's right. Sure you can view past occurrences to see what worked before and what didn't but still can see what's right and what's wrong. I see though on the outside on why this rule is necessary to follow full-hearted but to always be observant of. If followed it could lead to disaster but if observe you can see how things get run by other people piece together the information and come to your own conclusion and belief system. If the world were to devotedly follow others history would constantly repeat itself causing the world to be doomed.

The only place where I see this rule used on a daily basis is with children. When exposed to a new environment a child will see what everyone else is doing and follow. Also children follow the adult influences around them thats why your child is said to be a spitting image of yourself. Still it doesn't decide what is right and what isn't that choice is left to the one's the child looks after.
