The relation between the transnational and domestic politics have always been a very important issue. According to Joseph S. Nye and Robert O. Keohane the attention was traditionally concentrated on relations between states. State were regarded as an basic units of action, as actors with purposes and power. But it is obvious that interactions among them do not take place in 'environmental vacuum'.

They are effected by geography, the nature of the domestic politics, characteristic for every country and the technology. Now those well-known forces are seem to be not the only ones which have an influence on the relationship. The situation has changed with the consequences in appearing new factors, which often work without a governmental control. I am talking about for example the trade, personal contacts and communication. Non-state entities have become new actors in the international arena. They behavior have tangible and intangible effects on the domestic politics.

There is no doubt that the world politics is changing. That is why the classic paradigm which assumes that the states are the only actors in world politics and that they act as units, require transformation. The reality is not corresponding to this model anymore. Firstly, in direct confrontation with transnational actors, national governments not always prevail. If they can do it, costs are often higher than benefits. Secondly, the impact of transnational politics significantly effects the 'high politics' of security or war.

Finally, the influence of transnational relations has been always existed. 'Globalization' - a new buzz word come into being with incredible strength. "Globalization" is nowadays one of the most popular words. It is present everywhere in public discourse. We can hear it on TV news, in parliament's debates, we can read it in journals. Amazingly far so widely use of this key-term, there is not appear to be any precise, widely-agreed definition of it. In every single instance the world "globalization" seems to have a different meaning in a different situation.

I think, that everyone will agree with the claim that globalization is a huge, complex process that changes world in front of our eyes. It effects every sphere of our life- economical, political and social one. In this essay I would like to focus on one of the many dimensions of globalization, that is the globalization of culture. In my opinion it is one of the most important issues, that has influence of how people see themselves in the world around them, which is now in the middle of transformation. By showing various opinions and arguments I will try to find an answer to the question which lately has gained a very important meaning.

What effects will the cultural globalization cause? Does it lead to cultural diversity as one think or maybe to cultural homogenization as others claim? Those questions are not easy. They require looking at the problem from different points of views and perspectives.

In addition, what is more important, is finding the answer we have to try to understand the whole process to understand its consequences. What is the "globalization" that everyone talks about? The term is in common usage since ' 80. By some, it is enthusiastic considered as an inevitable process - a key to economic development and integration. Others regard it with fear believing that it will increase a gap between a "poor" and "reach" countries, a poverty and unemployment. At the top political and economic level globalization is a process of denationalization of markets, politics and legal systems.

It is a result of technological progress and innovation. But we can not forget that it not only refers to increasing integration of economies around the world, especially through trade and financial flows but also to movement of people (labor), capital, technology, norms, values and ideas. The consequences are visible in local economies, human welfare and in everyday life of anyone of us. Brought changes have a great meaning and it is almost impossible to conceive a significant group in society that will remain untouched by them. We can understand the globalization as a new condition of the modern world, as a complex connectivity.

According to John Tomlinson by this we mean rapidly developing network of interconnections and interdependences that characterize modern social life. "The notion of connectivity is found in one form or another in most contemporary accounts of globalization. To shortly elaborate this idea we need to look at two ways in which it shades into other themes. The first one can be called the proximity. It involves a sense of the shrinking of distances through the dramatic reduction in the time taken with the consequence in the 'stretching' of social relations across distance.

A world in common conscious appears more intimate and compressed. Being connected means being close in very specific ways - "the connections that affect our lives (... ) are made sense of as though they really bring us into closer contact" (J. Tomlinson, 1999). Social relations across large tracts of time-space cause distant events and powers to penetrate our local experience. Globalization changes local order and imply proximity as a general social-cultural condition. There is also another significant elaboration of the idea of connectivity which is called a global uni city.

In the core of it lies a believe that the world is becoming a single social and cultural setting. It does not only mean a simplistic uniformity. It is rather considered as a 'global - human condition'. It requires thinking that local experience has to be raised to the horizon of a 'single world'. What is more, local practices and lifestyles need to be examined and evaluated in terms if their global consequences. Globalization has economic and political roots and effects but except them it has also put into a spotlight the power of culture in a new global environment. "Globalization lies at the heart of modern culture; cultural practices lie in the heart of globalization" (J.

Tomlinson, 1999). I think it is clear that this huge transformative process of our time cannot be properly and completely understood without taking into consideration its cultural aspect. What is culture? According to Webster's Third International Dictionary we can defined it as: " the total pattern of human behavior and its products embodied in speech, action, and artifacts and dependent upon man's capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations." It can be also understood as the order of life in which people construct meaning through practices of symbolic representation. Language, religion, political and legal system, social customs are the most important components of cultural identity.

They are considered as the rudiments of people's identity. Even casual examination of the...
